I have THE most kick ass controller EVER!!!!

Post by ShockSlayer »

Ok: Ive been trying to get a 3rd party n64 controller to work w/ a gamecube joystick for the longest time! And I never did that.

I Got one to work with a WII joystick! HELL YEAH!

Its a yobo n64 controller. This mod took me 3 minutes with just a hot soldering iron and a wii classic controller right joystick. No worries: I got another one.

I'll post up a tutorial asap, but i wanna play with this baby! Pics later.

Quite the waste if you ask me. Then again, it's easy to get most 3rd party N64 controllers to work with any pot-based joystick.

Ok tutorial time. This might work with a gc stick too. Most likely. but this worked with an official nintendo brand, and all pots differ.

Step one: Crack open that Yobo controller. Get it down to the mobo and take a close look at that joystick.

4 wires to the mobo from the joystick right? If not, return that controller. The controller I have is clear colored. it has a slow button.

Step two: sacrificing time. Crack open an official wii classic controller, or maybe an official gc, or official nunchuck and take a look at the joystick. desolder it from whatever board its on.

Step three: diagram reading time.

Ok, once your here, take out all the useless guts of the yobo's old joystick box. Then, dremel a hole to place the joystick in. Look at where the new joysticks plastic rotates inside and oil it up. Epoxy, bondo, or hotglue, or superglue that joystick in. Make sure your joystick hasroom to move to the fullest position. Or use it in your portable. Since I'm using it in my portable, don't expect to see any pictures of a completed controller.

GET TO IT!

Nice instructions on how to do this. I have tried this mod before with GC controllers and they work just fine in a N64. I personally dislike the N64 joystick on the controller so I replaced it and mine worked just fine and I am planning to do this to my next portable. I think this is a very easy to follow diagram and is very simple to those people that may be new at mods.
