DELLS!#%&@^$*&

Post by G-force »

I hate mine! I just installed Doom 3 on it and it died overnight just to spite me! And the fan went out on it a couple months ago, and it cost $20 for a replacement. My friend had his fan go out on his Dell laptop too.
So I wont be posting much until I get it fixed.

Anyway I was wondering if I just got a real piece of crap or if everybody has problems with their dells?

lots, well not personally, but friends and family dells have sucked, mostly with hdd's going out and fans dieing, like your case. Yet my dad still wants me to get a dell!, I am just going to convince him that mac mini's are shweeet! It will be easy since he is mac person anyway, he just thought I wanted an x86 intel pc. Oh, and their monitoirs aren't great quality either !

Wow from the sounds of it Gateway must be great. I havent has a single problem with mine, hardware wise. Though to be fair I only got a tower, I didnt get a monitor or anything else.

As for eMachines. Think of it they have the lowest prices out of all computer dealers. Just remember the old sayig "You get what you pay for".

Dell, I guess this explains why they needed to have the best comstumer support in the U.S. I really think that Dell is over rated anyways. They were the supplyer for my high school (once the macs left) and the college I attend. About the only thing I'd buy and its because I cant build my own is a laptop.

Otherwise if you have internet and can read direction you should have the ablity to construct your own.

my dell hasn't screwed up once. well, there was that time the hard drive got wiped, but that was my fault...they sent the driver CDs out in mere days. and the time I spilled an entire friggin' can of dr. pepper on the keyboard...they sent a new one and instructions within mere days. I replaced it flawlessly. basically, other than a few of my screwups, the thing's worked perfectly.

then again, I have good luck with electronics and not screwing them up irrepairably.

Homemade = kills compitition, cheaper also.
Alienware = Death to anything in its way, Expensive though.

I went threw this process in the summer when I got sick of my HP. It sucks. TRUST ME home made are way way better in my opinion.

I agree. I always build my own computers... except my laptop but that doesn't count.

Gateway 'owns' Emachines. All new Gateways are Emachines with different casings and software.

Well I got mine compputer back in July 2002, problibly before that buy out or merger.

Also to tell the true I have built a computer before this one. Its just the last one was a P1@166mh 256mb ram, 3 hard drives, sound blaster16 and ATI tv card. By all standards it was slow. In fact I couldnt play diable II LoD without supper lag (online). The other thing is my parents owed me for nothing when I turned 17.
