Has anyone ever tried to consolize a portable?
I see a lot of people turning consoles into portables but has anyone ever turned a portable into a console? I think a psp console would be awesome. Has anyone made an attempt to make a portable into a console?

i remember the manta ray too, that was with neogeo controllers.gannon wrote:I know someone (not on this site) has made a GBA console using (IIRC) the transverter and SNES controllers.
edit: Miracle Ray is what it was called haha, I can never remember that name for some reason. Seems more of just an accessory addition of a bigger backlight psone screen, but you can hook it up to a regular television
Miracle Ray

As for de-portablizing something like that... I don't really see much reason to. For example, Gameboy games can be played using the Super Gameboy on the SNES or N64, GBA on the GameCube's player (thingy), and most other systems don't have games that are to the point you'd play them enough (as I see it) to want/need a bigger screen.
You can do a google search if you're interested in seeing the progress on someone getting a usable video out of a Game Gear. This would be in a way de-portablizing it, and for damn good reasons, the screen sucks and the battery life does too. This is something that I might look into again for the fact that the Game Gear is a portablized SMS and so if you can replace the screen with a bigger, better, and more efficient PSone screen I'd be for that. Then you have an SMS and a Game Gear in one package.
Beyond the Nintendo and Sega portables, I don't think there are many if any that people would invest the time into to get video out and wire up the controls to a controller port. All for a hand full of games. If someone does it they're doing it for the challenge or those games are some damn good games.
