Flashing LED madness
On my PSone screen, when I turn it on the LED's stay on solid for like, 1 second, and then proceed to flash quickly. If I mess with it sometimes I can get it to flash slowly, but I can never get it to stay solid anymore.
This started happening recently, it always had worked before.
I don't think it is a short, I may be missing something, but I open up the case and the screen is pretty much free from all the wires, and I've checked the leads and LED power wires and they seem ok.
Any ideas?

It started out with 1, and progressed to all 3. T_T. I think something similar must have happened, though I have never dropped it.marshallh wrote:That's interesting, that happened to one of my LEDs after I dropped my L64. Confusing, because all 3 LEDs are wired in parallel, but only one is actually flashing.

I think I know your problem. Mine don't turn on, so I'll have to rewire.
I think there is a problem with your 7805 mini regulator located near the ribbon cable ports, the one that supplies power to your LEDs.
Otherwise, if you tried to bypass fuse CV23 you might have damaged something or you might have blown the fuse labled PS1 near the audio jacks.

I already blew the fuse and bypassed it.
As for the other part, I don't think I damaged it because it worked for a month and I didn't do anything to it.
Must be the 7805. I'm doing the "quick and dirty" powering of my SNES, by drawing the 5 volt wire from the second 7805. If the one supplying the screen is screwed, where would I get the power?
Or its the solder, my soldering is awful so I wouldn't be surprised.

I have had this problem with some green LEDs. The problem was that the resistor i used was rated to low which overvolted the LEDs. Double check you are using the right resistor. If there wasnt enough power the LEDs would just be dim but having to much power can cause them to malfunction (ie flash or explode/fizzle). Hope this helps.

It's like 3000 (?) or something. Plenty enough for a screen and SNES for sure. Like I said, it worked fine before.sammy wrote:Yeah so? The amp rating can still be to low.Insert_Name_Here wrote:I'm using 7.2v N-Mh batteries -_-sammy wrote:Sounds like you aren't getting enough power. Try using batteries with a higher mAh rating.
