yeah but really, how long will it take before someone figures out how to add channels and such via flash drive or something. Someone will do like a photo hack or something like the PSP. Nintendo themselves said they would eventually add the feature to create software for the wii.
"Talking of potential, we may even be able to create an opportunity for amateur developers where they can release games that they have made, although this will be hard to do in the immediate future. The mechanics of the games industry at the moment doesn't allow games to be sold unless they're widely advertised by major publishers to earn greater profit. This seals off gateways into the game industry for new talents." (Iwata Asks Vol. 3 Part 2)

TIFFs do not work on the Wii, like that was how the 2.00 and 2.71 downgraders work (and the eLoader for 2.71, 2.80). Perhaps a game save exploit with fair well, like the eLoader GTA:LCS one, or the Mechassault gamesave for Xbox. Gamecube homebrew however does work using the Action Replay method.Reploid Ayla wrote:yeah but really, how long will it take before someone figures out how to add channels and such via flash drive or something. Yes they will eventually, but they will not unlock the full potential of it to homebrew developers.

You probably have the game save or something. What's the size of the file? I believe the actual SM64 rom itself was 8MB.

One thing I've wondered about the VC to this point: Are they ever going to offer up games that were never released on American shores?
I mean, games like Terranigma, Tales of Phantasia for SNES, Star Ocean, Bahamut Lagoon, Seiken Densetsu 3, the list goes on. It'd be really nice if they did, but knowing Nintendo, probably not; I mean, look at Mother 3. There was a HUGE fan outcry for a North American release of that game, and it of course never happened.

I wish they'd release the FDS versions of some of the NES games, except in english. Like Metroid & the Zelda's. All have better sound, & you can actually save data on Metroid.

Thats not the whole story.. The Wii decrypts the gamesave and takes out the parts it needs like the header, and data, and ignores any other data to pad into the file, which combats malformed gamesaves which results in exploits.vb_master wrote:Based on FreePlay's work on Wii gamesaves, the best method for exploiting the Wii is via a gamesave, since gamesaves are dependent on the games, and the system can not be patched to stop them.
Nintendo have thought this through, they also do the same thing with virtual console games, in addition to checksums.
As for copying VC games to SD, you copy the channel, but cant copy it back if you dont own it.
I think it might have something to do with the checksum of your NG number for your Wii. When copying a game back that you dont own, it cant copy it to the directory NGxxxxx because it doesnt exist, and altering that digit so it does exist gives a bad checksum, and then as a result, it cannot copy.
Even then, the game is decrypted and the relevant parts are moved, which also combats exploits in the channel software too. So unless the channel software is decrypted and completely pulled apart from the homebrew community, it's not likely to happen any time soon.
Also, by the looks of things, Virtual Console games are region free, but it's Nintendo who make it region locked, not the console.
