OOOH I KNOW!

this happend to me with the huge ones...those break easier.
What you do is find the "center" of the problem and try and "straiten" it out. then work on one problem to the left of it and one to the right. Straightening it evenly. Then use the non f-ed up coils as an example and bend it back. Takes about (if your canadian:Aboot) a half hour...

yeah its kinda weird i know this...

also there is some danger...Worse comes to worse kill the "dead' end of the slinky by cutting it off and just use the surviving end

Hook it up to a vibration generator, observe the longitudinal goodness, and increase the ffrequency and amplitude until the slinky either undoes and recovers or you reach the harmonic resonance frequency of the substance creating it, and it disintegrates, provided enough energy is supplied.

Cut out the broken part and you have TWO Slinkies! (Slinkys? Slinkii?)

:P

Generally, you can untwist them. It's kind of difficult to explain, but you have to undo it in all sorts of ways. Can you post a couple pictures? (One with it relaxed and one with some tension on the Skinky would be helpful.)

haha yeah I had a metal one too way back when. I f'd it up thought when I put the two ends together (either making a circle or a loop). I almost bought another one recently at the goodwill but they wanted $3 for it. Aren't they $1-2 instore?

If it was a metal slinky you could cut out the F-ed up part and solder the two halves together. :P
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

I'd suggest cutting it, getting a lighter to melt it back into place & then sand it flat.

It looked like it was stapped near one end. Is it?
