I know you can boot games from the harddrive on Xbox 1. It was done with the first ever portable Xbox (not Ben's, his was second, I think). So, is there a way to do this on the 360, either with the stock "20" GB harddrive or from an external drive? This would save a lot of space in another 360p laptop.
Also, about the HD-DVD drive: Could you mod your own integrated HD-DVD Xbox 360? By removing the stock drive and replacing it with the HD-DVD drive and making it able to play games, possibly with a manual switch?

OK, I'm pretty noobish at XBOX modding, but not too unfamiliar at the actual software. As far as I'm concerned, there is no software that backs up the DVD of the XBOX 360 games, nevertheless a custom dashboard that can run that jumble of files. Also, I doubt it would be enough to hold it on the default harddrive, actually screw that, but you wouldn't be able to hold a lot of games, and keep your necessary files. The HD-DVD, very improbable. HD-DVD is a brand new format, and the special laser is made to play video DVD's, and not original game DVD's. So, it's not as easy to that switch, and the size and all, very, very unreasonable, nice try though
