Wii Virtual Reality?? Possible?

Wii Virtual Reality?? Possible?
I came up with a great brainstorm earlier this evening. What if you could have a virutal reality head set with the wii built into a belt or something that you would wear and have it run on batteries?

Yep, put the wii in the back pack get a motions sensor to read your leg motions, to wii motes for your arms, and and get a battery to run it on a battery.

problems with Virtual reality is space
u might have a headset and in a virtual world but how are you gonna make sure u don't bump into something and hurt yourself

I did help someone build a virtual reality system
I told him how i think the easiest way would be to setup a home system.
Basiclly it was kinda like how the VR units are used now in that small unit u stand in so u dont move around to much and hurt yourself.
It was adapted to normal pc games one was for some car combat game dont remember what it was but it had headmovement.
Your body would always be sitting as ur driving but the game had you able to turn left and right for seeing enemies.
i told him use a old MS mouse and connect a fixed wire onto the helmet so when you turned the wire twisted left with u and the mouse connected to this twisted aswell so if u looked left the mouse would simulate it.
the technology can be done but simpler ways need to be thought of but the problem is still space and the fact that having lcd's so close to your eyes isn't a good idea more than a short period of time

mebe not really VR but AR (augmented reality) thats where they use a HMD with cameras and overlay digital stuff onto the real world, kinda neat stuff

Hey I know this has nothing to do with the topic at hand. But what about the wii playing RTS games, now that we got mouse like qualities with the controller wouldent it be possible to specalize in an area of games that in which other consoles have failed ?

Virtual reality is pointless. "Oooohhhh!!! I get to see the same dang image that I see on a tv, but now it's 3 inches from my eyes, gives me a head ache, hurts my face, and weighs ten pounds! Goody!" Unless someone ever figures out that the only virtual reality that's convincing is the two camera method, I'm not letting anybody, homebrew or first party, shove a screen in my face for $100.

you have a lot of preconcieved notions about VR, number one the helmet doesnt have to weight ten pounds, maybe a pound at most (think sony glastron or similar HMD) most VR setups even back in the day were stereoscopic (simulated 3d, works fairly good) but pretty premitive, it would be easy (and very expensive) to make a GOOD VR setup, wide angle of view, good balanced stereo-vision, good headtracking, ideally with a tactile feedback glove or somehting. at least xga resolution. also 100$ is just LOL hilarious. even crap old LOW res HMDs cost more than 100$ in a lot of cases, im talkin less than 30 degree FOV at like 320x230 basic head tracking and crap

Then what do you do when you have to turn? Walk off the treadmill and bash your head into a wall? Hamster wheel or hamster ball? The wheel would still have the problems of the treadmill.
