Does the screen's backlight turn on, or is it just solid black?
Are you using a battery or the official power jack? If not a batt, try the PSOne power supply.
After you've checked all the tedious stuff like fixing cold solder joints and such, try the fuse jump trick in Ben's book. If you don't have it, take a look-see in the screen hacking sticky, it'll be there!

Ok, my controller I was using was fried, so that was my only problem. The screen was perfectly fine, I am recharging my batteries as we speak.

Alright, well, I sent my screen away for a led modded one. Credits go to : khagg. Whose name I understand now. In any words, my battery is now an RC 3300 ni mh incase i didn't mention that earlier, and my controller is wii style. This thing is pending till I get that screen. How fast is airmail from canada?

New dremel rocks, double portable idea is not decided, still waiting on screen. Going to build in controls soon and will have portable finsihed with the next month.
