If you want to make an emulated portable, just buy a pocket PC & slap an emulator on it. (You CAN probably get one for under $100...)

I wish I had this much support when I was 9. Game & Watch, I've only used screens I can use without taking them apart. After that, I take out the parts I don't need. Portable game system screens (PS1, Intech Game Controller, etc.) are easiest & probably cheapest. Ladyada has the easiest portable to make that I've seen, over at http://www.ladyada.net/make/gamegrrl/index.html. Also, just keep asking people. Most are nicer than the ones on this board.

Ok, guys give him a chance, you all say that you typed a lot better when you were his age, but you really have no way in prooving that, all he wants to do is learn to portibalize so why dont we let him. Now saying that, I can relate somewhat to what your going through because years of MSN and text messaging on a cellphone has really taken a toll on my sentence structuring, so I can understand, but everyone is not as understanding as I am. so if you want to get anywhere useing these guys as a resource and for help I suggest that you take a little bit of time before posting each of your replies and questions and just clean them up a little, you will get a whole lot farther, trust me.
ahh. but opinions can change and facts can be faulty.

Anyone who can't type shouldn't be anywhere near a soldering iron. If anything, making a portable game system is not the kind of project that you do at 9 (which I have a feeling is someone messing with us).
If you are who you say you are, then you should go with an easier project to get a hang on electronics. They sell 10 dollar kits that have different parts and let you experiment with resistors, LEDs, speakers, etc... without touching a soldering iron and come with easy little projects and explainations. Or you could go to Radio Shack ond get some breadboard and a kitbook and save a few dollars.
Then you should check out Jumpstart Typing. It's so much easier to help you when we can understand what you're saying.
Welcome to the internet.

Getting a tan while everyone else is in a blizzard... >.<
I dont think he has a problem with typing, I actually think he types way to fast and slams on the submit key. And the sentence structure, well, he dosent sound stupid, he just sounds like me when I'm drunk. So.... maby he isnt nine, maby he just surfs the net drunk. I dont know. Just my opinion...
nope... can't think of anything I could possibly want to put in my Signature Block...

OK kid....no offense, I was new here not too long ago (I just post a lot, that is why I have so many posts
)
and I typed almost perfect. I am (insert age) and I still am pretty literate.
no offense, I couldnt type when I was nine, but I think this will help:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Disney-Adventur ... dZViewItem
since you are 9, I figure if it has animation, it'll keep you adicted for more than 30 seconds with you kids's short attention span!

no offense, I needed to laugh....
I know that using cell phone and leapfrog lcd screens WILL NOT work, because they do not take in composite and stuff like that.
get a ps1 screen, pocket tv, or hipgear screen. you can get them via trading post or ebay.
I think you need to wait a few years and study the work of portabilization.
I built just one portable, and it was pretty good. you just need to practice soldering and wiring, and really study those systems and stay in skool
(I skipped skool, see? I cant spell!!
