Its specs actually match those of the then current (release of Xbox) specifications for the Mobile Celeron. The PIII-gen Celeron is identical to the PIII core, with only L2 cache and FSB clock to differentiate it.

You would be able to watch movies from Mplayer, you could probably have 2 decent divx movies per mini dvd have a small linux basic boot which launched movie(s) upon startup.

Just so you know the Gamecube will not be able to run linux as a stand-alone machine. It will require a server to send the info to it (think ftp) as the GameCube has no hard drive to boot from.

Mplayer is a linux/open source media player. I guess it can be compared to windows/ real or quicktime as the things it can do.

Well, that might not be true anymore because of ww.gcdev.com and the fact they make up to a 4 GB SD card. :D

Well, would a 256 card or less be better ?
remember, less = cheaper = better
heck, I have Linux running on my GP32 with a 32 meg card and 8 megs RAM
so, whats the smallest size I could have and still play movies off the GC?

Also I might be wrong but I think the SD card adapters are used for ram rather then a storage of data. If there were a way to connect a hard drive they would have mentioned it on the site, but at the expence of my own integity I havent visited that site in the past months.
