Pretty slick. The stock nub is aweful.
And are you kidding me wrath? MPH with the touch screen is almost as good, if not AS good as playing with a keyboard+mouse combo.

Some of the article has the feel of Ben'sk, but it's just lacking one thing that Ben is known for, object presented on a hand. I think this is just someone that wanted to look like Ben, because if it were Ben we'd have heard of the mod here first, then it would have been posted on the front page of Benheck.com and finally on engadget.com.

Kind of a shame engadget doesn't let you see the person's profile so you can see if they are or are not who they say they are.

One of the commentors there said that a N64 joystick would work. Only a third party one.
We could check Ben's other stuff and see if any of those tables are in any of his pictures to check if its real (wait, didn't he just move, so he could've gotten new stuff).

And Ben doesn't even OWN a PSP! Again, we would've heard about this first. Not saying this isn't a neat little mod, but it's not on the scale of a Heckendorn original.

It does seem odd....im going to search the site and see if i can find any mention of it

EDIT: nope no mention of a psp or a mod like this...

also
You now have the leet skillz to attach an analog control stick to a PSP.
that doesnt sound like anything ben would say...

Ben? care to comment?

Yes it was done by me. This is my first How To for Engadget.

Just because you don't see the trademark left hand doesn't mean it's not legit.

A friend of mine had a busted PSP and I offered to fix it. After fixing it, I though "as long as I'm in here..." and came up with this.

An offer from Engadget was on the table at the time, so I figured this would be a good first How To for them. I enjoy Engadget and Joystiq (all in the same boat more or less) so thought it'd be cool.

Now lay the rumors to rest! In the meantime, I hope to get Benheck.com Theatre up this week...

It's 99% me, there was a bit of editing but that's how it goes.

I dunno, if I saw this I'd think it was me. I know that sounds stupid, but it's like recognizing your own handwriting, you just know.

Anyway, yes, it's an interesting mod, it works, and not that hard to do (compared to most crap I partake in) Planning to do maybe 2 things a month on there.

wow that will be great, i alway enjoy the engadget how to's especially a well written one such as yours (rather than some lacking half the nescessary information).

Just a couple of things about the mod: doesnt the solder stop the contacts contacting? do all the buttons on the d-pad still work fine with the wires there? and is there any remote possibility for us to see a video of it in action?

Good job Ben!
