Yeah you need to update us on how thing are going.
As for the PSP; that is mentioned as easier than most as it runs off batteries easier, it has a simple connecton to the screen and is small. Infact the chart at doomportables says the PSOne is a 3 on a scale going up to 5 (5 being the hardest).

hey guys,
sorry it took so long for an update. I was on a cruise over christmas and new years and I've had little time to work on the Saturn portable.
However, this past week I've put many hours in and I've made some vast progress. Unfortunately I've broken a LOT of stuff with this portable...Tje Saturn is the most deilicate system I've ever worked with. It's also proving to be quite a challenge to make...but I shall prevail! The built in controller is 100% done (and damn did it take a lot of work).. I also had to wire in the mod chip because the vertical stance it has got in the way of the controller part under the lid. That took a good bit of time too, 21 wires...thank god it worked cause I wouldve been out another $40+ if it hadnt :/ I also finished the screen casing which will double as the CD lid. It's one of the nicest designs I've made yet IMHO and after a test run today I can say this is going to be one helluva great portable.
It is the largest portable I've made yet (cause it's a normal Saturn casing) but it's also the lightest. In fact, it will be about half the weight of my PS2 portable. This week is going to be pretty rough for me, but next weekend I'll be able to do more. I don't have much more technical work left, and the paint job won't be too hard either. If anyone wants to see the progress, talk to me on AIM or MSN, I have a web cam now
The hardest thing left is the Action Replay 4-in-1 that I have to wire in. It's going to take 120 wires by my count (!!!!) That's going to be hell....lol. Unfortunately my cart only works 50% of the time cause the connection is always bad...even though I cleaned it. I'm still debating wiring it all in, but I'm leaning towards it....
Like I said, I'm going all out on this portable

Well I had almost a major set back. Yesterday I finished everything for a test run and to my suprise the lens wouldn't function when the screen was on (??) It turned out that the cathode light and/or transformer were interfering with the reading of games for some odd reason (there is of course a CD and plastic covering between the two). Once I figured that out it wasn't hard to shield it with some grounded copper, but figuring that out was really a fine pain in the ass.
However, I'm glad to announce that my system is running beautifully...and off one 7.4v li-ion battery! I don't expect the life to be very long with the power combined for the system and screen (plus that voltage regulator burning up energy like hell) so I'm going to make a 2 battery pack option easily available. I may also just throw in a rechargeable 7.4v li-ion battery since there is so much extra room.
I'll be taking the system for its first excursion tomorrow since it has already had a successful test run. It won't be long before its finished and its already looking sooo nice

CDX/multimega...same thing
Here's a couple poor quality pics I snapped with my webcam for ya
Obviously it's not finished yet, but you get the design idea. The nice part abou the system is it weighs so much less since I took out that massive (and unecessary) heatsink.
