and no deal because what content you said is acceptable is mostly just tech stuff. it goes against the F42 forum description
Look, It's not that difficult to do; just train yourself to capitalize words when you type. It's a good habit not only on the forums, but for typing in general. I commend the fact that you're trying to spell correctly, but like Luc, I have a serious pet-peeve for people with incorrect grammar and spelling, especially capitalization; it gives the appearance that you just don't care about the message you're portraying in your posts.

I think we should make the forums a more democratic system, rather than a oligarchy. people could vote on rules 8)

And if we did, then the forums would stay exactly as they are, perhaps get a bit stricter. Fortunately, the majority of the forums do not support your ideology, GB.

And you couldn't put it into place. Ben is already the president, Sparkfist and Gannon are the vice presidents, and the mods are congress. What could you change, besides calling them "president" and such?

Maybe the occasional non-tech topic that is relavent to something is ok, but any more than that and the cause of portablizing would be lost in a matter of days with the flood of F42 posts. It is a nice place for your brain to cool down, but these forums have a purpose. Talking about total crap is for other places with no point, not here.
i see where you're coming from but not everything off-topic is crap. interesting topics get locked and deleted almost every time they show up.

True, but the best survive and go on to be great topics. I guess it depends on what mood the mods are in.

And that's a good point. The mods are human. We aren't perfect, but not one of us has any kind of malicious intent. Some of us have been at this from anywhere between 1~3 years. We've been here almost everyday since becoming mods and admins. Countless hours, weeks, days and months. Were I mod for a day, I'm sure that day would be down very well, but the longer you go, the more likely it becomes to goof up. Sometimes I get on the forums in a rotten mood and it's reflected in how I do my job.

Does that mean I think the recently locked topics were goof ups? No, but you simple can't gripe at us every single time we lock a thread. This job is incredibly stressful and time consuming. Instead of making things harder for us, wouldn't it be nice if you supported us and simply didn't spam? This forums means a lot to the guys here because of the time we've spent working on it. It's our biggest prject. All we ask is that you care about it as much as we do and have some respect and pride for your posting privleges.

And in the end, it is our forum. It runs by our rules. That's just the way it's got to work.

the problem with grumpy mods is that you seem to be in a bad mood much more than any other mod and much more than you should be and it reflects very badly on how you do your job. you should seriously consider retiring from moderator

Could be because he (or so it appears) is the one that tries hardest at forum improvement, while many users (you included somewhat) totally ignore our efforts.

i know he works hard. but he works too hard. a problem with trying ot improve is that it can go too far. kinda like my busdriver who comes too early because she doesn't want to be late. it's an obscure reference i know but you (maybe) get the point

Right... So Luc should just stop showing up as often as he does? Luc's here to keep things inline and make improvements whereever possible. And saying he should stop working on improving the forums is like not worrying about how your car is running, the forums need constaint attention to keep things running smoothly.

On thing that does make Luc grumpy or moody or whatever you want to call it is caused by a fair number of members just ignoring things like no AIM or 1337 speak, think before you hit "submit", and read over your post before you hit "submit". Basic common sense issues.

I'm sorry, daguuy, you lost me after 'retiring'.

I've been here about 1.5 years, and have extra forums, the sections, rules threads, projects, and butt-load of wit associated to me and my time here. I've accomplished more than any other mod on staff. I've recived positive feedback from members and staff alike and keep close tabs of moods and attitudes of those I work with and for, while still maintaing an active lifestyle of biking, school and video games.

Two members (our of 2000+) complain and I should retire? Thanks for the faux-concern, but I'm going to have to pass on that unspectacular offer. If you think what I do is "too much" maybe you should consider living life a little more. Being active and not putting up with people's crap is, in fact, healthy. As far as I can see, what I'm expected to do is a product of what I've done.

This forum is a labor of love on the staff's part, so excuse us if we don't want any crap from some 13 year-old's under-developed mind. We take pride in our work, and this forum and its atmosphere is our work. Poor threads and rotten typing sully our work and we simply don't put up with it. That's our choice for our forum. End of story.

Also, you seem to keep ignoring the fact you and ganonbanned are the only members complaining (and only because he got a pointless thread of his locked). You'd need more than 1.5 members to convince me to 'retire'. You'd need a mandate...

excessive modding is bad. you get irritated way too easily to deserve to be able to do much about it. and you're the only mod i've known who actually pisses some people off. i'm 16, not 13. i'm not some under-developed douche bag, i know what i'm talking about

You've just given up on reading anything I write and are making groundless assumptions, huh? Well, fortunately I've figured out a loophole to this whole mess...

And by the way, score on swearing and looking really mature. I totally feel like hearing you out and taking you seriously. [/sarcasm]
