Exactly, over the past year the general discussion forum has over run this site. We the staff have stated many times that the entire reason for this lockdown on spam is to get the site back on track the way it should, portables first, the rest 2nd. If you don't like it go somewhere else to talk about other things and rant, we don't care. This was caused by the large decline in the amount of actually helpful topics and replies given in the portable forums. Many sincere questions have been getting drowned in all the off topic discussions.

i thought the general discussion forum was for giving people place to generally discuss without invading the console forums (i heard SNES forum was general discussion before F42). i contribute to portablization but i'd like to be able to use the general discussion forum without worrying if what i say is legal ot not.

Re: AS
Legal?Unless you're reffering to the roms issue (in which case, your dead wrong), I get the feeling you take this place even more seriously than the staff...daguuy wrote:i'd like to be able to use the general discussion forum without worrying if what i say is legal ot not.
Listen, you'd be surprised how little criticism we take. Hell, look at that e-mail prject I did. out of about 14 e-mails, 13 or so were positive. I'd change my actions in a jiffy were more than the guilty and you, BH's official martyr, complaining. But that's not the case, so I won't. Sorry.

That's what kills me. How can you (by which I now mean anybody) be on a forum and be disenchanted with typing. You know what I mean. The guys that think "wat shud i do wit my stuf, lolz" is a acceptable post. You guys honestly post anything and you post it fast.
You want me to stop locking threads? Fine. I will. I promise to stop locking threads.
IF..
...eveyone's posting follows these three simple guidelines:
1. Content: You should be posting a question about an issue in either technology (news or developments, since how-tos are in the tech Q&A forum) or about you in relation to the forum. That last one is tricky, as that it relates to the blog rule, but if you're curious, come ask me. Often you can figure it out by asking "Should anyone but me care?"
2. Style: did you reffer to yourself as "i" or "I"? Is there a period for each sentence? Are questions ended with question marks? Did you use the capslock key of the shift key? Is the post legiable? Take AT LEAST 1 minute to check your post for spelling and grammar. Sure we all make a mistake here and there, but take some pride in what you post.
3. Forethought: Stop and think "is there any chance someone will react negatively to this post?" If your not sure, ask me. If you are, post accordingly.
Deal or no deal?

These forums would die if we got too off topic. Maybe the occasional non-tech topic that is relavent to something is ok, but any more than that and the cause of portablizing would be lost in a matter of days with the flood of F42 posts. It is a nice place for your brain to cool down, but these forums have a purpose. Talking about total crap is for other places with no point, not here.daguuy wrote:i try to spell right. i just don't care enough about capitolization to hit the shift key every time i type word that should be capitolized.
and no deal because what content you said is acceptable is mostly just tech stuff. it goes against the F42 forum description
