Laptop Monitor

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Laptop Monitor

Post by Jimbozu »

So im beggining this project of building a PS2, N64 and an xbox all into one big hulking laptop, similar to the 360 laptop. Ive got this 3 or 4 year old laptop monitor that i was thinking about using as the screen. Problem is that I cant find any information about the screen. Anywhere.

The cable its got attached to it has 30 pins on the female end, 24 pins going into the main board for the screen, and 6 pins going into the inverter board. I assume that the main board takes some form of a DVI so that i dont have too much of an issue with. My issue is how would i figure out which pin on it's coincides with another one on a regular DVI cable, and how much amperage it takes. Thanks for any help in advance.

Maybe one of the mods should make a sticky w/ a title like "Why you cannot use your laptop or GameBoy LCD screen"

Dude its impossible to use laptop monitor as a tv. There are a couple of cheap LCD television sets on eBay. You should give those a look.
ahh. but opinions can change and facts can be faulty.

You guys have no reason to back your false information up. Although it's not an easy task, you can hack your Laptop LCD to have RGB (and in that case, Composite) input. You just need to hack the controller board. Google it, dude.

And atari2600, you can use not only a Laptop LCD, you can even hack your GBA/GBASP to input video.

Get your facts straight.

That's IF there's a controller board. ...& if there is, there's no promise it can be hacked to input an analog signal.

That is with other stuff, I think he meant just the screen.
