I would say zen micro or microphoto. I have tried the micro photo in staples and I found the UI very intuitive. My primary con for the ipod is the fact that apple seems to treat them as completely disposable. The nano is glue together for pete's sake!
What features are you looking for in the player anyway?

I had the Zen Micro (5 GB) before the newer color screen version. It was good, except for the long startup time (sometimes) and eventually it started to freeze fairly often (forcing me to take the battery out just to restart the darned thing). Luckily I did have the extended warranty and got it replaced for free, but a few months later the same problems started with the new one. By that time I had sold my Micro to a friend for about a hundred bucks, and so he went and used my warranty to get himself an upgrade to the new 8 GB color screen Zen Micro
Worked out for everybody. I used the money to go buy a flash-based player. Zero start-up time - I just turn it on and it starts playing. Anyone know if the new Zen Micro ever takes a while to start up or ever freezes? They might have fixed that by now...
My advice - go with a flash drive player. Longer battery life and zero start-up time. When I want to listen to a song, I want to listen to it now!
Don't take this post the wrong way - I'm still a huge fan of the Zen Micro, I just learned the hard way that a flash drive player was more suited to my tastes and music library than a multiple gig hard drive player.

all mp3 players seem to crash sometimes, but when your ipod nano crashes, you basically have to wait till the battery dies. that means you could be listening to music one minute, then not listening to it for the next 8 hours.
the creative zen has a MUCH nicer screen, and i think you can look at pictures (not sure if the nano does that or not..)
do the right thing and go and actually find some reviews of players on google. and dont limit yourself to the list you made at the beginning of this thread.

I tend to be leaning more towards ipod as the range of accessories is much larger than others...
Does anyone have a zen micro? whats it like?
Does anyone have a new nano? is it better than the old?
I've seen it in JB-Hifi, Dick smith electronics, and Harvey Norman! geez i think even kmart or target had it in their catalouge's
I had my eyes on the 4gb model for the simple reason is it does video, music and radio. for craploads less than the nano, and has a mini-sd to upgrade
So have a look, cos for $269AU you can have a 4gb mp3 player the size of a nano that can do video
Heres a video of what you can expect
well i have spent the past few days researching and i have just about decided on ipod....but i am unsure if i should buy an 8gb ipod nano or a 30gb ipod
NANO
Pros: Small
Light
Nice design
Nice screen
Very good battery life
TONNES of accessories
Cons: Less space (only 8gb)
no video (doesnt bother me very much)
no radio (couldnt care less my phone has one and i never use it)
Ipod (30gb)
Pros: Lots of space
nice screen
lots of accessories
cons: Big (makes it a lot harder for me to carry)
Heavy (same problem as above)

Well, here's the question - do you have 8 GB of music (or plan on having that much)? Or do you have a gig or two of music and many many gigs of anime (like my friend who got a video ipod when it came out)?
If you're like me and know that there's only about 3 gigs of music that you actually listen to, then you should go for like a 4 gig nano and save yourself some money.

Hold menu and "select" for about ten seconds. Even if the iPod doesn't respond, it's still resetting. Works like a charm every time (I had some problems with my 20 GB acting up over a bad FireWire port on my computer once).timmeh87 wrote:all mp3 players seem to crash sometimes, but when your ipod nano crashes, you basically have to wait till the battery dies. that means you could be listening to music one minute, then not listening to it for the next 8 hours.
