To the first poster, Can you open it up and post pics of the internals? I modded one once, Now it shoots darts as if it was shot out of a paintball gun.
Seriously.

Ya i think it would be hard for me because i have almost no soldering talents, programming talents, building or troubleshooting electronic circuts, and building skills but I kinda haven't tried most of that stuff so ya im okay at soldering but well i suck at soldering and is making the boards really nessecary(sp) or can you just buy premade boards from Radioshack.totokan wrote:Yeah, I made one for a friend. It's level of difficulty depends on the person, as usual. For me, it was easier to buy the boards and my friend (with a vac-forming table) made the case. Of course, the hard way is to solder mount that PIC onto a self-etched board.

ive done them all, but i still think airsoft is the best. paintball is more expensive, its messy, and the guns dont feel real. however, i reckon once you start buying good guns + upgrades the diffrence is cost is little.
the mess makes the biggest diffrence i think, becuase with airsoft, as long as you sweep up the bb's you can play anywhere, and in any enviroment. i dont know many people who hold day long paintball tournements in thier back garden, it would be wrecked within a day. also, if you ask nicely, people will let you play airsoft in indoors. playing cqc indoors is a million times more fun.
laser tag is crap becuase theres no tangable ammo. i takes out any of the dodging, aiming and excitment. and the guns look silly.
the guns feeling real is important. airsoft guns are made to have the abilitys of the origonal gun: rifle, pistol, revolver, shotgun ect. this adds a lot of variety that doesnt exist in the other "sports"
also, while the mags ammo capacitys are more than the real guns, you have to reload more often than in paintball. having to reload mags while on the run really adds to the fun of the game.
i still enjoy paintball though. its great for people who dont want to take airsoft up as a hobby, but want to have fun.

@watermelon: To each his own. I like lazer tag, as the intangible ammo is a plus, not a minus as you think it is. Realism is ok, but it's against the law in a lot of places nowadays. Lazer tag is a toy market still, thus it must abide by the toy gun laws. paintball has some regulations, I think. The only airsofts I've ever personally used were some spring pistols, I believe. Nobody near me owns any.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
master, when paintball guns are made to look realistic they are just bad.
in reality that gun has a hopper and air tank, which makes it not look realistic. Not to mention guns that are made to be realistic are normally not balanced very well because the hopper/tank are on the back half.
I'd take a shocker over that POS any day

It's an Ion in a different body, you can just use a remote and a QLoader/Warpfeed and be fine.Xiro wrote:master, when paintball guns are made to look realistic they are just bad.

nah, lazer tag sucks.
you and a few friends are in some woods, which sounds more fun:
hundreds of tiny bb's hurtle through the air, the guns are popping, ammo falls everywhere. you dip and dodge, hide behind trees and bushes to avoid the bb death. which gun to choose, how much ammo do i have left in the mag?! bang! youve been stun completely up your left leg by 15 bb's, your dead.
you and your friends running around from ammo you can even see. it doesnt really matter whever you hide, dodge or run, becuase you cant really aim them anyway, your lucky if the laser happens to fall on the enemy at the moment you pull the trigger. also the guns make ridiculous noises. the biggest problem is that you have to hit the enemys panel to score a kill. that isnt any fun.
when we play FFA airsoft we do head or chest shots only. but it became highly competetive and we ended up doing head shots only, way more fun, but a good mask and helmet is neccessary.
airsoft is a very expensive hobby though. the initial cost of the guns is tres expensive once you start buying good ones and the upgrades cost some dollar too. upgrades are essential when playing other people with good guns, otherwise your automatically setting yourself back.
