Controller problem

Post by littlemal »

Well I'm almost done, but when I tested my portable playstation, the controls weren't responding. The analog LED was on, but none of the buttons were responding. I'm wondering if I wired it to the motherboard wrong. (By the way where does the purple wire connect to?) Can someone help????!!!

Purple goes between Orange and Grey/Black. I say Grey/Black because they're both connected to the same spot. Though perhaps it's only PS2 controllers that have Grey. Or is it Black? I forget.

Though I realized my one third party controller has a Gray wire in the spot where the purple one goes. Weird. Though once again, talking about a PS2 third party. So...differences might there be.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot. As for your problem.. I had the same issue when building my PS2p (once again, PS2 not PSOne). I'm betting some of your contacts are touching, or aren't solid enough. You may not even realize it. Took me a while to figure that out, as well.

Could you like maybe give me a diagrahm of where the wires go, because the one I got seems not to work. ( I didn't connect the purple wire to anything, because the diagram i got doesn't work..)

Ahhh! Okay then!

But remember what I said about this being the PS2 one. Though I can't see there being any difference.

Like I said, most likely, either a couple of your contacts were touching, or one didn't have a good enough connection. OR one (or more) of the wires are screwed up. I must've rewired my memory card 7 or 8 times before thinking of trying different wires.
