But I still killed the engine a few times when I first got going. It takes a little getting used to, but it's not too bad.

Like I said in AIM, go for it... even if it is a manual. Also, stay away from the truck. Good mileage = good to have (coming from a guy that is stuck with a 1985 Jeep Wagoneer, which gets 12MPG street, 16 highway)
In britain noone drive auto's lol. All I know how to drive is a manual :D

Massachusetts. What about you?

So maybe you can do all that in one day. It's still silly to buy a vehicle that old for those prices, because it's most likely worn out already.

Around here the only kind of car you could have in your possession on the road that fast is a hot car.

More information (model, year, mileage) for each would be nice.

And the question remains: WHY do you NEED a car by Tuesday?

If you think you NEED a car by Tuesday, you should probably not get a car.

Why, exactly, do you believe that you NEED a car by Tuesday?

My school is making me take a Class that starts before 1st hour. I cant ride the bus to get there beacuse i would be late.

Ok try this. Google police impounded cars in your state. They are about $400-500 and you can get jsut about any car. That is what I am going to do when I get another job.

So? Either:
A) take an earlier bus
B) learn of these things earlier, thus being able to plan ahead
C) I can't think of anything else.
D) I guess you could... (dun dun dun) buy the car
E) Buy, insurance fraud, get $$ back, go to jail, use as excuse :D
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

A)There are no earlier busses
B) I just got my licence in July, and my mom keeps on putting off taking me car hunting
D) I want to look around first in Hillsdale, or Coldwater for a car

I know this has already been said, but I really would not recommend buying a 500 dollar car. 99% of the time a car that cheap is going to be a piece of crap and after a month of driving it will be in the shop and youll be spending 300 dollars on repairs every other month. Ive seen it happen with about 5 of my friends. They easily put as much into repairs after a few months as they paid for the car. Not to mention the insurance is gonna cost more than the car itself.

I know this might sound lame, but have you considered a scooter? You can get one that goes 40mph and gets close to 80 mpg for 500 dollars, probably cheaper. Just an idea.

Stick shift is easy, go on a road no one uses. And practice a little. Heres a hint, start in first, accellerate until you HEAR & FEEL the engine going as fast as it should be for that gear. Than foot off of accellerater, foot on clutch, proceed to shift into gear 2. Rinse and repeat, pm me if you want more help.
I'm the man, if you don't think so, you're wrong.

when you get a manual and get used to driving it then you will realise just how fun they are.

Just think, you can change gear whenever you want. Want to shift at 7000rpm? you can and it won't force you into an upshift. Love them.

I would never drive an automatic. Too little driver involvement, BORING. Much like a diesel.

please keep in mind most older cars, iron duke 4 cylinders and large v8s as example, redline at less than 6 thousand rpms, iron dukes redline at less than 5000, that would be VERY bad to do in anything less than a preformance car

Yep, that's what gave the Fiero a bad name, people taking the Duke well past its redline and scattering the bottom end. The rods would blow a hole in the side of the block and drip oil on the exhaust causing a fire. Keep the RPMs below 5k and you won't have a flaming Fiero, but people seemed to think the redline on the tach was only a suggestion. There is no reason to take a Duke past 4500 anyway, they are a long stroke motor that is built for low end torque.
