ben if you pull this off you will prob be mentioned in magazines and stuff because Dano2k from Xbox scene was in like 4 magazines just for an externally watercooled 360. This trumps that

Well, hopefully that water cooling system will keep it cold as ice.

What happened to the old motherboard? Did the water cooling leak onto it? And do you have to use water or is there a special coolant? I know the damage is done already, but is the old board completely shot or is there some hope for it?

I'm guessing that one of these things is well over $1000 considering that the 360 alone costs $300.

With something like this that's obviously going to get a lot of attention, I would think it would make more sense to auction it off on eBay or something then to stick a static price on it. With the attention it's going to get it could easily go over a thousand dollars or beyond. Well, thats what I'd do with it anyways, tis Bens choice though really.

You are welding your aluminum case together? Ben, always outdoing yourself. Why do you make the rest of us look so bad? Seriously. >_<

I said well over $1000 not $1000 statically. And if I had something that Godly I would totally keep the original.

heh, water cooling, which can't really be water it needs to be special coolant (or a mixture of regular car fluids...) or else it could cause piping probs.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Yeah the case is welded together, all aluminum parts routed out and then connected with welding. The only plastic part of the case is the inner keyboard/speaker/screen control/Ring of Light section.

There's so much stuff, and weight, no other choice really. Plus the metal case sinks a lot of heat off the radiator which is clamped directly to it.

So far it's looking like this final build is good to go, will work on it a bit more today but will also do something "fun" for myself, a prototype Benheck.com podcast.

As far as price, this was a comissioned project so it's already sold, so to speak. While I won't devulge specifics, most of your guesses (as to cost) are about right. The case alone was more than most whole portables I build.
