I would think you could get by without it, especially if you give it some space. I you can, I'd keep it there. Even then, they only cost a couple bucks to replace if it stops working

It also might be the amount of current being drawn, the atari doesnt draw as much as the SNES.

Since there's no point in creating a new thread for this, I will use this topic to post.......

I've got a SNES 2 (SNES Mini) for less than $35, with all the cables, 1 controller and 1 game. :D

I will just need a PSOne Screen to start my first portable. 8)

But right now I am happy playing Super Mario RPG for the first time.

Super Mario RPG rules!!

Why not just use a small cooling fan to circulate the air instead of a heatsink?

Because a 7805 heatsink is smaller than the smallest cooling fan you could buy. It's about the same size as your thumb from your last knuckle to the end (more or less). And it won't cool the 7805 as well as a heatsink would anyway, I'd imagine... most people wouldn't want something drawing extra amps off of something that they're trying to keep as low-power as possible either (not to mention that drawing extra power to COOL the voltage regulator is... well, interesting) :)

Don't remove the heatsink, you'll very likely destroy the regulator.

I already fried the board so uh. It doesnt matter. A lone piece of solder in my case did the deed. Just lost $40 $86 if it also broke my screen
