hi one kid at my school is giving me his broken ps2 for free. he said it wont play games and says disc read error. how can i fix this? thanks in advance. p.s. i dident log in cause im at a friends house my normal user name is nevets934

well I got one for free to the whole drive is broken but the board is fine..i think anyone want it?

sounds like a problem with the drive. Some games may still work. My neighbor's PS2 doesn't play the common DVD games, but it does still play CD-ROM games and PSX games.

take it apart spray out the dust with compressed air and re adjust the hight of the lense until it plays games thats what i heard on another site.

im gettin it tomorrow. i'll try bowing out the dust and i am afraid of breaking it completely by adjusting the laser. i'll let u guys no if it worked :D

I'll take any broken PS2's. I repaired my friends which broke in the same way. It takes a LOT of time though. :/

ok i opened it and cleaned it and it still dont work. i guess im gonna try adjusting the laser. how much do replacement lasers cost?
