i hope this doesnt count as bumping, because i just registered here and want to comment on this. This is the best portable N64 I have seen, but I have a question. How do the controller ports work? You have four. Does that mean that the first controller slot and the buttons on the actual system itself are both player 1? Very good idea there.
Also my N64 is in a closet somewhere, so I can't tell, but is that the A/V port there to play it on the TV? Also cool.
And I have one final question, that I guess anyone can answer because it has nothing to do with the actual system, but I didn't want to make a new thread. Anyway, my friend and I are planning on making one, and he thinks it would be better if we got a harddrive on there so we don't need a slot for the cartridges, all the games are on the hd. I'm not even sure if it is possible to play it off the harddrive, because then you would need a menu and a lot of other stuff. But even if it was possible, would it work? Can the actual N64 run .v64 and the other images, or does it have to be the actual cartridge? Thanks.
Also, I put this on a site I made, I hope you dont mind.

ok here is the deal...
GREAT to meet you! So you want to biuld a portable? Please read the stickies and watch the how to solder episodes in F42, these will grant you the most basic electronic elements you need also visit the wiki
at benwiki.tk
Now that said and done, the hard drive idea is a novel concept, but lacks any real practicality, by this I mean It could Probably be done, but the knowledge to do it would probably entail years of collegic electrical engineering...
So in short just re-locate the cart slot and carry around all those smaller-than-the-NES carts
And oh yes, do not be afraid to start a new thread, we would rather have a lot of specialized threads addressing individual problems than to have a gigantic thread that address all the little problems, so please do not post in this thread anymore about small problems, unless it relates to the L64 in general, start a new thread...Read the rules in F42

Thats a tad off topic, but oh well. Theres an excellent guide made by daguuy here. It's fairly n00b-friendly, but I wouldn't recommend it as your first portable. I'd recommend doing a search next time. But the guide is good, I'm using it to make my N64p. If you meant is there a website on how to make the L64 specifically (like the case and all), theres no instructions to do that.WiiPlay wrote:im a noob![]()
and i really would like to know the instructions in order to make this. or send me a website on it. please

That guide is mostly the electronic stuff, I didn't make a case section because other than a lack of time, I'm not the best at cases
You can find vacuum-forming (the method used to make the L64 case) on some websites. I think there's some links on portablesofdoom.org. I did N64 as my first portable back when I knew nothing about anything and I don't regret it, though it is pretty hard. BTW, your link is wrong. Here's the guide.

Yeah, fo sho'. Lets get back on topic. I'll start (doesn't this feel like gossip corner now? lol). Marshallh made one awesome portable. Its one of the best vacuum forming jobs I've seen. It's very professional looking.daguuy wrote:Took me over a year (april 2005 - june 2006) and around $250. It may take more or less time/money for you, it depends on how you build it. This is getting kinda off topic
