Portable Atari 2600 emulator
Hello,
Has anyone tried to make a portable Atari 2600 game that runs an emulator, instead of using carts you could use roms/bins?
Also with a USB port new Roms/Bins could be added and old ones removed?

Well it has been thought up. But most people here don't like the idea cause some glitches won't apear or other things. with using actual hardware you stil have those. Also Ben has a saying he told on tv: "emulation is like mastur............" (I think you can guess the rest.)
Edit: Conclusion. If you want too emulate it. This forums not for you. Just get a psp.

It has ports of select Atari games.wallydawg wrote:Doesn't GBA have a 2600 emulator?
As for the question posed earlier. Sure you can make a system that runs emulators and roms rather then the real thing, but what's the point? The only time that it could be seen as an attractive idea is if you built a portable PSone or Dreamcast or Xbox and had emulators on a disc/hard drive. However just to have an emulator is really silly as you lose the true look and feel of the game.

2 GIGS?! 32 MEGS is more than enough! All the discontinued games on AtariAge PLUS some homebrews still adds up to less than 5 MB. I think the largest 2600 games are only 32 or 64k, most are < 10k.

Uh, no. It was on his appearance on "Attack of the Show", presenting the NES micro.Skyone wrote:Uh, no. It was on this site.jeroen wrote:Also Ben has a saying he told on tv: "emulation is like mastur............" (I think you can guess the rest.)

As for the question, I don't think there is a way to attach any flash ram to something like the Atari joysticks. If you want a large collection of Atari roms for an emulator, you're best bet is to stick to a computer. You can try and use something like a PSP/GP32/GP2x/GBA ports/custom built emulating PC.

After, Ben didn't use something suggestive or vulger like that on the site. He's very careful as to what he writes, that did change after the show as if he can get away with it there he shouldn't have an issue here. Both audiances are ages 13 and up.Skyone wrote:Was the presentation on Attack of the Show before or after the quote on the forums?
