Rise Of Legends or Battle for Middle Earth 2 if you like strategy.

i dont really have any interest in online play. if i want to play multiplayer ill invite my friends round. i dont get why people play online, you just have to do the same thing over and over just to beat a faceless person on the other side of the world. the fact the person isnt in the room with you takes all the fun out of it. it becomes a pointless competition for points which means nothing.
id much rather played a well structured single player game. anyway enough of the ranting..
unless Q4 has abanded IDs doom formula, whereby you shoot stuff in a giant maze, in order to find a key to open a door to lead to a switch which leads to another door, which also needs a key to open, then im not interested. When i play ID games i always feel like the aim of the game has nothing to do with saving the world or whatever, but how many doors you can find keys to open.
bah well, maybe some more ranting, pfft.
still on ze lookoot.

I think online games are fun, because you get to play against real aponnents which are smarter and act more realistic. Having your friends over to play games is something different since you cannot do it all the time or whenever you want (except if you have really cool friendswatermelon wrote:i dont really have any interest in online play. if i want to play multiplayer ill invite my friends round. i dont get why people play online, you just have to do the same thing over and over just to beat a faceless person on the other side of the world. the fact the person isnt in the room with you takes all the fun out of it. it becomes a pointless competition for points which means nothing.

You cannot really blame the ID for the structure of Doom because the game is not about a real story or about realistic enviroments. It's about shooting stuff in 3D, which was, at the time, very spectacular. And off course they keep this formula for the sequels. Otherwise they wouldn't have any relavence with the previous games. It's like turning Super Mario Bros into a complex RPG and calling it Super Mario Bros 2 which wouldn't be relevant at all. It's Doom, Doom2, etc. They would have to call it: 'Doom: the Adventure of Doomguy' or whatever.
And a good pc game is not so hard to find, try BF2 or COD2.

just becuase its doom, it doesnt mean they have to repeat the formula. the game is god knows how old now and gameplay has moved on to a point. im not saying old games arnt good, but really most of them i dont enjoy in comparisson to more advanced modern games. some old games still holdup gameplay wise and some date heavily.
i dont think doom still stands in its current form, becuase the bar has been raised by better FPS games, and now it has become shallow and IMHO very dull. i enoy it in co-op on the xbox though. i love anything co-op.
i started playing hl2 again as i was desperite to play somthing, but its not quite as fun now i know whats going to happen.

One game (Well, make it two) game(s) I find intoxicating are the Counter Strike games, but more of Condition Zero, seeing the single player option, and that the rather 'indie-ness' of it makes it a hidden ground for noobs, and that you like SP games a bit better. CS:S is crawling with morons ho just type: "LOL, LIKE YOU'RE SO N00B, LFODJSLKJSLKFJDSKLJSDKFJDSKLFJSD HAHAHAHAHAHA, I OWND YOU, HAY, Y U HEADSHOOT ME WITH MAC 10, YOU NOOB AND SMALL GUN, I OWN YOU, LOL I SEXY BOY"...'nuff said
(maybe I overdid it
). The other game that is so intoxicating to me are the Alien Versus Predator games. The uniqueness of those FPS's just crawled me in. Those neat Alien tricks and Predator skills, and since it's three FULL campaigns in one packet, it's rather three games than just one. It's single player focused with an optional internet play. One last game I should sneak in is...Red Alert...have fun
"Life's a female of the dog species, then you die.."
Yeah but it's not called Super Mario Bros 2 is it? My point is: you cannot just change a game completely and then call it a sequel. PA: Fifa is about soccer and it will always be about soccer. Fifa 2007 will not suddenly become a hockey game. You know what I'm saying? I like that developers change a game and add depth to it but changing it completely is just not right. It's doom so it will always have guns, monsters and mazes. I do agree it is boring nowadays but nevertheless there will still be monsters, guns and mazes. They could change it perhaps and add a story but the monsters, guns and mazes WILL stay (third time?madc0w wrote:*Cough* mario rpg *cough*It's like turning Super Mario Bros into a complex RPG and calling it Super Mario Bros 2 which wouldn't be relevant at all.
