1-Up Cheatachu's the PORTBL N64 LOL

Post by 1-Up Cheatachu »

Hello everyone! I've been interested in N64 portables for awhile now. I've wanted to buy one, but no one seems to sell them. At least, with the D-Pad and expansion pack. Anyway, since I can't seem to find one to purchase, I've decided that I might just make one of my own. Here's my plan:

I want it to have the D-Pad and the expansion pack. It would have the controls built in, like most portables. However, it would have two controller ports, so I could play with my brother. Would this be possible?

Yes, you can have 2 controller ports only. Just only wire in the internal one and the extra port.

Good luck!

No, I mean, would it be possible to have built in controls while still being able to plug in two controllers?

It depends on how you wire it. If you solder the controller wires for p1 on the inside, the port on the outside becomes useless, unless you get a switch. Oh, and btw the order for the wires is R W B i think

someone here came up with a switch that automaticaly reroutes the signal when you plug in a controller. to lazy to find it for you now. try the search
nope... can't think of anything I could possibly want to put in my Signature Block...

That's somewhat what I want my portable to look like, an oversized N64 controller. I just realized that I forgot to put in L, R, and Z into the concept art, but it doesn't matter. I'm still thinking of what I should make the case out of. Any suggestions?

Dude. Ditch the design. I THOUGHT OF IT FIRST!!!!! IDEA STEALER!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!

That design fails. Unless you have a lot of experience portablizing, I reccomend against it. Just see my topic. Although I would like to see it done.

Try playing everyone's favorite game, orconia of time, for a long time. I say, build the controller in, or put both the dpad and the controll sick on the same side, and just extend the a b r and c buttons

Here's my new design, which I like better. Complete with controller ports! I shall call the portable... "the PORTBL N64 LOL". No really. I'm gonna call it that. I'm gonna design a logo to put on it. :)

Question- Why is your screen an oval?

Suggestion- You should put the controller ports on the sides or back of your portable. Imagine big cords and 64 style connectors blocking your view of the screen whenever you and your brother play.

Suggestion-L and R should be on the back, not the sides. Imagine not being able to hold a controller correctly because you'll acedentally press L or R.
