Final Hoorah..

Post by dajudge »

Ok, before i got rid of my NESp, i went ahead and redid the ENTIRE thing... new boards, new and better wiring, smaller and better solder.... new 72 pin connector....

same thing as last time....

Game will not show up...

Screen comes on, NES gets power (required 5v)......

the screen just blinked as if the game was dirty... i cleaned the heck outta it and nothing...

any ideas?

Chances are the pins on the cart connector aren't making solid contact with the cartridge. Try taking a sweing needle and bend the pins up a little. Not too much, or else you'll wear things out too fast (if the contacts are pressing too hard they can scratch up the cartridge connectors I think...)

You could also disable the lockout chip. This is pretty easy; just disconnect pin #4 from the motherboard and wire it to a ground connection. According to the <a href="http://benheck.com/Games/Nintendo_proje ... tm">"super" NES page</a>, just doing this can help a lot.

It looks like you have everything working...Since you said you bought a new 72 pin connector, I'm wondering if the pins on the NES motherboard are rusty. You coul try carefully taking an xacto knife and scraping the metal on each pin on the mother board, and then try sliding the connector back on for better contact. I don't know if this will work, but it sounds like its a problem based on the cartridge connector and nes board. Have you tried different games too?

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake,
From the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep, peaceful sleep,
May the soldier or sailor,
God keep.
On the land or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night, Must thou go,
When the day, And the night
Need thee so?
All is well. Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light; And afar
Goeth day, And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well; Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise, For our days,
'Neath the sun, Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go, This we know,
God is nigh.

too bad about the nesp
maybe there is still something...DONT GIVE UP!!!

thats a bummer. I have killed a couple of nes mobos too. don't cry though... there expendable, so just get out another $15 and run to the thrift store for another one.
Emulation isn't accurate. There is no substitute for real hardware!
