That's not true. You could simply glue together the sides, as based from my friend's book bank. I got the idea from that btw. Plus, I could bolt nails into the corners as support beams. just send them into the four corners of the cover.JeffMan wrote:You're gonna glue 100+ pages together? That's gonna be incredibly frustrating. The glue will add at least 50% of the thickness of the whole book. And like Klefmung said, if you miss one page, the whole thing falls apart. You'd be much better off just getting a block of wood and carving into it.

Or you could just make a case that would be less, well, dumb. And I can't believe no one has said this before, but resistors get hot; some would get hot enough to burn paper no problem. Also, if you get a short circuit or possibly a wrong wire connection (you are a noob
) your leads will tend to smoke, which as we all know, leads to fire. Not to mention that the NES board DOES get warm; not warm enough to burn, but constant heat does warp paper over time. I don't think it's the best idea, but I've gotta give you credit; it's creative

For future reference, noone likes being called a noob. All forum members were created equally! well, besides admin and mod accounts, but that is aside the point!

Noob persecution at other sites gets way worse. Believe me, I went through it. So I have just taken the word from my "to use" list. Just because this site is superior (no sarcasm, this is one of the best forums I have ever been to) doesn't mean that it can lower some aspects down to the depths of others. I hate to seem like some sort of "killjoy," but I just despise that word.

i for one thing its a very cool idea, and i am pretty sure if done properly there will be little to no risk of fire, especially if you coat the insides with epoxy and make sure to heatsink your 7805s and stuff

Yeah. I'm working with my friend to get all the kinks out, as well as make plans. We were also thinking of adding to it with book controller mods. take a small novel and shove and controller inside, then, we could even leave a little extra space towards the end, so if you're playing at school and the teacher wants to know what you're doing, you can open it to that page and act like you were reading. We're really still in the brainstorm and putting it on paper stage, but so far it's looking awesome. By the way, does anyone know how to disconnect the power/reset button cord from it's port on the motherboard?
PS. I do not take any offense to being called a noob because I don't deny my ignorance on the subject of system hacks and mods. I'm learning though.

What kind of forums have you been to? This site is about average for persecution. I mostly hang on car owner sites, and they are the friendliest people around.Klefmung wrote:Noob persecution at other sites gets way worse. Believe me, I went through it. I was just thinking; how would you secure the motherboards? You could screw them and use a bolt, but I don't know if the cardboard cover/paper could take the constant insertion force of carts. The paper would rip. You could layer it with bondo after you epoxy it, then sand and hot glue on a second book cover so it would still look like a book. Have you figured this out yet?
