@MM007: I can't really give out that information because I am not far enough in the design process. I do not want to give out any information that may turn out to be false. However, I can tell you that the sound processor is a seperate chip. Also, the way the controller works is quite simple (been redesigned and now only has three pins: 5v, vss, and data). All the data is sent as serial data from the controller to the console. The analog sticks are read using a simple ADC and are also sent in the same serial data (well, that was obvious. what other data line is it going to get sent in? lol)

Sorry that I can't answer all your questions right now. Well, I probably could, but I don't want to give out information that is going to change.

@Nick: I'm open to game concepts and designs. If something is good enough it might be considered and even made into a final game!

@Harshboy: You'd buy two!? Thanks man! Your a great guy. And yeah, i'm still designing schematics and even drawing up some shell designs in my spare time.

100-200 USD
77-155 EUR

Well, i might only be able to buy one if they're in the 100-200ish range. I need to save money for a Macbook and a GBA Flashcart for my GBA SP

Understandable, but I have to wonder if putting the signal through an ADC will make the analog less accurate, or is the ADC fine enough to make it unnoticable? I understand if this can't be answered right away though.
Warranty-Voiding fun!

then that would be 50-100 GBP*

which is not bad for a console

*based on rounded averages of currency conversions

Seriously, I would only buy one for $20 USD. If I want an 8-BIT console I can buy a NES for 30 bucks, and that actually has good titles. As for open soure and homebrew, I can do homebrew on the NES, in fact, I have. $150 USD is in conclusion higher than an xbox, which is basically open source with a modchip. And it's graphics aren't 2D.

If you're actually serious about this, price it lower than $150. If this is a fundraiser, heh, good luck!

How can they sell it at $20 if it costs more to make?

Nah, but $50 would be reasonable. $10 a game.

it would be my guess that it will cost the price of parts plus around 20% but this is totally speculation, we have to have make some profit for the whole thing to be worthwile, and 20% isnt much

What do you think all the part are going to cost? I'm just thinking $30 for the base console. That's $20 USD labor and profit.
