OK, i've been reading the forums for a little while now, and I'm working on a Port-a-64, but i have a question. What is the big deal with RGB? The screen I am using, is a portable DVD player screen with build in RCA jacks, so i can connect it directly to the default N64 Video/Audio out.
Personally, I don't mind the way it looks on my screen, but everyone here seems to think RGB is a Godsend. Please enlighten me as to exactly what it is about RGB that is so good over RCA jacks.

also, to clarify, RGB and RCA arent even in the same 'category of things'.
RGB is a video transmission standard, alongside RF, composite, S-video, and component (to name a few).
RCA is a kind of electrical connector. composite, RBG, and component (as well as audio) can all use RCA cables.

RGB would be a bit clearer, but composite looks fine on the PSOne screen, and besides it's an N64. If it was an XBOX or PS2 or GC or something that uses really high quality graphics, there would be an obvious need for RGB.
Also, I think by RCA you meant composite right? RCA is a type of plug, composite is the video type.
EDIT: Yeah, what Timmeh said.

They are RCA jacks, but RCA jacks can be used for composite or RGB. RGB has a Red, a Green and a Blue RCA jack, while composite has a single Yellow RCA jack. The White and Red RCA jacks next to your yellow jack are for the left and right audio channels, respectively. (Sometimes the left channel audio jack can be black instead of white, but this is rare.)
Here's a great site explaning nearly every type of audio and video connection there is or ever was. http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/howto-av.html < That should be stickied somewhere.
