I was dissapointed with the visual presentation of the PS3 and Xbox360 titles shown on E3. I was especially dissapointed by Gears of War, especially after they had shown us all these fantastic renders of the game last year.
Huxley, for PC, looked kind of neat, but it was impossible to determine whether the footage was prerendered or in-game. Of course I'm still hyped up about Spore.
My crystal ball is looking a little hazy right now, so I can't really say much about the future of the new consoles. I do believe the console makers should have stuck to the normal $299 release prices instead of offering more powerful machines at crippling prices. The Xbox360 looks to be in a coozey spot right now, and it'll be slated to win the war if Microsoft drops the price to around $399.

Well as of right know I have no freinds who are going to buy anything but the WII, ( we are all going to get wii s on release if we can ) until others consoles prices drop.
And whoever said the PS3 was going to be like a home pc and that would make parents buy it for there kids a sevearly disagree with that.

Xbox 360, I really don't want...the only reason I would kind of want it is Halo 3, and I only want Halo 3 to find out WTF happened to Master Chief! I'm gonna buy a PS3 and a Wii. OK! PS3 I want, it's cool and pseudo 360 in some ways, and Wii, well I want that as a gaming system itself, the fun games, just seems like a pick up and play thing, whereas PS3 would yield my awed expression and online wanting. I've never had XBOX live because of that price, and if you guys are saying, "LOL NEwB LOLOKOLOLOLL, joo r the suxorz, get only wii (or PS3), klfdlkdfkljdsf JLOLOLOLOLKOKOK, nd u r PooRdffds LOLOLOL", erhmm, I've been saving up for the PS3 since about three years, and I've made bout 900, 67 percent from parents, so those are my tidbits.

As a person with a job and bills to pay. Im not going to have the money to throw around for a PS3, Wii seems like the People's Console...
Wii is for me. I'll not even think about getting PS3 until it's less than $300 (w/HDMI). The ONLY exception to that is if Blu-Ray recorders/blank discs come down to resonable prices before the PS3, and if the PS3 will play BD-R discs burned on a computer.
How many futuristic FPS do we need? The 360 getting GTA4 is interesting, but not enough to make me want one. Still see nothing that makes me want a 360. Never did see anything that made me want to get the first x-box....
EDIT: Just finished checking out the ign.com Wii game section. I'm all ready to get the Duck Hunt sequel, Madden 07, Mario Galaxies, and Zelda. The cool part is I'll probably be able to buy all those games AND the console for less than the high end PS3 (I'm guessing $300 for the Wii and $45-55 for the games.....).

The problem with that is that if you offer them at the standard $299 price point, you have to make the system less powerful to compensate for what you're losing. People want to see the same kind of difference in graphics that they did between the PSOne and PS2, and in order to do that now you need to push the hardware even further. In order to get to the point where people will notice and go, "Ooh, and ah!" you need the machine to be uber powerful, and that power comes with a price.teraflop122 wrote: I do believe the console makers should have stuck to the normal $299 release prices instead of offering more powerful machines at crippling prices.
I kinda see that high price as a downwards spiral. We need a super powerful machine to play the games with the higher graphics we want, however we don't want to spend a fortune on it. However, without spending that kind of money we don't see as big of a leap in graphics. Never ending spiral.

Exactly the point of my post. I don't know any of the details, but after a certain price the companies will feel the wrath of the economic principle of diminishing returns.I kinda see that high price as a downwards spiral.
The Dreamcast was $199, the PS2 was $299 IIRC, and now the PS3 is $599 and the 360 isn't much less than that. What will they do next console cycle when people want yet another huge performance leap? Charge $1199 for a game console?
This will all end in a massive nuclear explosion. I can feel it.

Well, the only reason I've held so much allegiance to Sony since the PSX is because they had Square Enix. Now, though, with the Wii gaining more and more control........
And also, Ben, you must admit that the Wii has opened FAR more eyes at this year's E3 than ANY other console. The Wii also has some very strong games coming out, like SSB: Brawl and, of coursed, LoZ: Twilight Princess. Metroid Prime III also looks quite good. Top that off with SE announcing that FFXIII will be on the Wii along with the latest Dragon Quest, and you have a force to be reckoned with.
Price will also do the PS3 in. No doubt about it, "on the fencers" (like myself) will no doubt buy the Wii first and then get a PS3 when the price is dropped substantially. It'll hurt 'em a lot in early sales projections, and will stay that way if Sony can't release a strong lineup of games.
Oh, and M$ gaming consoles will die; the cycle is complete, and hopefully all these false "gamers" who bombarded the industry coming into the new millenium will finally leave. And yes, it will happen, we just have to wait. That is when EA meets their maker as well.

of course with your income the Wii is a much softer offer. But anyone with money to spend on fancy crap will want one. It has those Ammmazing gafffffffixxxxx, and it's large and silver. Large shiny things look cool.CronoTriggerfan wrote:Well, the only reason I've held so much allegiance to Sony since the PSX is because they had Square Enix.
