Anybody else fans of archery?

Post by SpongeBuell »

Lately I've been shooting arrows at a range fairly close to me, and I've really been enjoying it, especially after I got a new bow in the mail today (everything I need to get started for $100, which is relatively cheap) This really is the kind of hobby that is easy to get addicted to, and it's actually fairly cheap once you get started.

So, anybody else shoot, whether it's for 2D targets, 3D targets, or hunting?

Does a handcrossbow count? I do have a compund bow but it's old and messed-up the wazoo so I prefer the crossbow. The bow is an old Indian, the rubber is coming off the wire, and it doesn't shoot straight at all. Good thing it only cost $5.

What do you guys usually use as a target? I tried foam but the arrow melts right through it(pretty cool actually). And little brothers make too much noise when they get hit. Hay costs too much.

Archerizing (?) is fun, but I stink at it, as well as there aren't any ranges around. But I do it about once in awhile since I'm a Boy Scout.

I used to have a compound bow when I was littler. My dad is a bow hunter.

I haven't shot for awhile, but I like archery a bit, a few years ago I was the archery director at a summer camp near me. I scored the highest that summer too :P (49/50)

I've always liked shooting things and blowing things up, but then again who hasn't?

Lately I've been thinking about how cool it would be to have a bow and arrow. I have a forest across the street from me, I could shoot stuff there. I'd enjoy that, if I was ever allowed to...

But I absolutely HATE compound bows. The one time I used them I always screwed up my shots because the wheels would snap into place in mid-shot. If that makes sense. I doubt it does, the last time I shot a bow and arrow was 4 years ago. And that might have been the only time.

Can anyone reccomend a mail-order NORMAL bow?

Yeah I love archery. I made my own bow for a school class project (and a mentor of course), and I love it. Its so sleek and polished and... :D

Anyways, I haven't gone out shooting at the range much lately, mostly because the nearest range is about 20 miles away. Ah well, I'll get out there sometime again. Its a great sport, archery.

um....I've shot arrows...in games :P....

I'd like to try archery sometime, though :).
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!
