I still am of the thinking that the Nintendo Wii controller won't work very well for games.

The Atari 5200 controller was "innovative" back in the day, but that didn't make it good.

I am shocked Sony went back to such a BASIC controller. Man, I really expected something more.

and besides its not like this sort of stuff hasnt been around all ready, no-one accusing nintendo of ripping off the inventor of the remote control are they?

The PS3 controller may sem similar to the wii controller buts its still vastly different in terms of how it does it.

However Sony must have known that they would be accused of stealing nintendo's ideas then again nintendo must have known picking wii as a console name wasnt such a good idea either

EDIT: hang on, this controller agument works both ways!

i just saw the new wii controller shell

is it just me or does the l;ayout resemble a playstation pad

Just recently, very recently, Sony lost $90,000,000 in a lawsuit concerning the apparent theft of the integrated rumble in the controllers. There was an aggreement that Sony had to pay the money, but they can keep the old design (not the banana one) if they don't have rumble. So now they can't have rumble for legal reasons (or as Sony explains, because rumble is "last gen"), and therefore they'll have to leach off another great idea, motion sensory. Nintendo was really sue-happy in the early years, I hope the nostalgia kicks in and Sony gets a fat lawsuit.

EDIT: that controller shell isn't as big of a deal, if I wanted, I'd modify my Wii remote to play in any contoller, or maybe a shoe.

Of course it's Nintendo's idea in a Playstation controller shell. Ever thought that people can INDEPENDANTLY think up ideas? No? I forgot it was impossible for 2 people to think of the same thing. And to be honest, it's hardly the same, cause the PS3 one is actually good.

Stole the rumble? So did xbox, don't hear you guys whining about that ...

Stole the analouge stick? they didnt invent that they were just the first ones to do it, its like saying i came up with the idea for a car that flys, ill sue whoever makes one other than me.

Stole the third party developer? Maybe they were offered better deals from Sony? You work for $10 a week and someone offers you $20 for doing the same thing ... Which one are you going to choose?

Sequel to goldeneye? That's not worthy of being a sequel.

Wished they had stolen rare? I bet Nintendo wished they hadn't lost rare because they were too stupid to hold onto them ...

but then again a playstation pad is similar to the SNES

(for obvious reasons see:nintendo playstation)

but the whole beef i have is sony havent "stolen" the idea

it is similar to the wii but it is still different.

The analouge stick wasnt "stolen" either, its a nessacary step up in the gaming evolution, as is motion sensors and the such.

so we cant really say ideas were stolen, its just whoever made it work first is all

I also must say that that law suit about the Rumble was just Nintendo being a sourpants. It's like they're trying to make extra money before they die ... one last dying wish. Why haven't Nintendo gone up against Microsoft? Cause it's Microsoft, that's why ... Nintendo picks fights it can win. Bit lame that?

A bit of ... "Hey, have 90 million too while you're next console is going to flop".

Nintendo didn't sue them!
This was between Sony and... some other company. This non-game-related company patented rumble that was built into the controller, as well as the controller design. That's why Nintendo wasn't sued, and didn't sue Sony either, because they weren't involved with this malarky.

Just searched for "sony rumble lawsuit" and came up with this -

Obviously, Nintendo wasn't involved. So get your facts straight before posting, Distortional.
