I think Nintendo is Better.. as.
My NES and SNES have lasted me fo like 8 YEARS, and ive treated them so bad. (Dropped them, Spilt coffee on NES, and such)
I kept my PS2 in very clean room, no dust, and It died...It lasted me 1 Year.
Nintendo > Sony (becuase Nintendo has been around WAY before Sony has... Nintendo came out in 1895 and was a Trading Card game)
Ive heard some Rumours of SEGA coming back with a NEW system.. maybe the Dreamcast 2!

NES NOW!!: DONE!
fact is that sony is many tons of money besides what the gaming systems are bringing in SONY will not die any time soon
And i see SONY buying Nintendo for the simple reason that Nintendo is simply not pulling in any money Compared to microsoft and SONY
the best thing said was Nintendo is the Tom Cruise of Videogames
It is proving itself with each quaterly finance report at gamestop
Face it Nintendo is going way out on a li8mb this gaming season and they have to nail it to make profit
In short they are still doing damage control from the gamecube (yes i said it the gamecube was not that sucessful)
We will see what happens is all i can say since people have bought the simpler system for easy of play and cheaper games (ie playstation verses N64 and saturn, they were both better, PS2 verses gamecube and XBOX)
I see a pattern...
but think in simple high school economics, simply put the majority were waiting for the xbox 360 and the ps3....
and nobody can sell anything without the proper advertisement...

The SNES and NES have almost no moving parts (lets avoid talking about the NES cartridge loader ATM), and they are almost all empty space. The Genesis and N64 are the same. Any CD or DVD (or GD) system is inherently complex, containing more parts with the potential to fail. Have any of you ever looked at a new car with some new gadget and said to yourself, "Just another thing to get broken."?
I'd love to see Sega jump back into the console business, but I don't see it happening. The simply fact that Sega is still producing games for other consoles should be evidence enough.
Nintendo is not hurting from the Gamecube because it generated profit for them. Saying Nintendo is doing "damage control" for a product which was quite profittable is inaccurate. Also keep in mind how popular Nintendo is in Japan, and the massive revenue generated by the GBA and DS.

glad some people see sense, sony will not go bankrupt if the PS3 fails
as i said earlier Sony is a huge electronics empire to fall back on, how many of you have a non playstation sony product in your house? most people have at least few
The Playstation section of sony may well be demolished if they suffer heavy losses, or they could put even more money in for the next generation. no one knows
However one thing i will say is nintendo are so damn lucky they have fanboys
im not saying only fanboys will buy nintendo products but there is a large proportion of people who will buy the Wii "just because its a nintendo"

The Absurdity of the Wii beating the 360 baffles me
I know a lot of you are younger and like Nintendo, but there is no way on God's green earth the Wii is gonna outsell the Xbox 360.
Hey, I like(d) Nintendo too, did up until about 2001, but now all they do is rerelease games and make you buy stuff you already own. Could someone name 1 game that's coming for the Wii? Mario X, Zelda X, Metroid Prime X don't count. A title. Anything?
The 360 now has a killer app, Oblivion as people are mentioning. Halo 3 is coming, along with Final Fantasy Online, Gears of Wars and a lot of other stuff.
Nintendo's goose is cooked. Last night I asked a non-gaming friend of mine (about the only person I know who doesn't play games) "Hey, you're a non-gamer, Nintendo's new market. What do you think about their new system the Wii?"
I got a blank stare, silence, pause, then laughter mixed with "You're pulling my chain" disbelief.
Hard core fanboys MIGHT get it an install base similar to the Gamecube, but the 360 is gonna pull ahead and eat away at Sony, easily making it Number 2.
Save your money, Wii is the Next Virtual Boy. Those who think Nintendo can do no wrong, simply remember that abomination.
And making the most profits on a system doesn't mean jack. Because if Sony gets 100 million PS2's out there, each owner buys 2-3 games a year, Sony gets $10 per game royalty BAM there's the money.
Likewise a Gamcube doesn't sell as much, less owners, less games sold, less royalty. The profits are in the games, not the systems.
Another example of why the profit thing is, dare I say it, a STUPID point: Let's say I make a portable SNES, sell it and make $100 profit. Sony sells a PS3 and loses $100. Guess what? The head of Sony drives around in limos filled with hookers while I'm stuck with my Ford Escort.
Volume always wins - look at Wal-Mart.

Nintendo is going to fail in europe, simple reason there are so very few people who buy the wii just because its a nintendo
Nintendo have done the exact opposite of what we wanted, it started back with the N64, late releases if at all and crippling PAL conversions that ruined many a good game which is why the PS1 sold so well here, because of that no one payed much attention to the gamecube, most games shops have whole walls dedicated to Xbox Ps2 and PC games, and then usually half a shelf for gamecube.
The prospects for the Wii in europe look low, most people i know have either already bought a 360 or are waiting for the PS3
i know one person who is going to buy the wii, just because hes curious about it but is going to buy a PS3 first and wait for the Wii to become dirt cheap like the gamecubes are (i can pick one up for arounf £40-£50)
It'll be said if nintendo do go, but they have only themselves to blame

Despite Ben's challenge, one solid (or unsolid, we don't know yet) game won't win the fight for Nintendo for top selling console (the war, if you will). You don't have a library with one game. You build it with one game and go from there. This, though, does not mean that Nintendo will lose. Nor Microsoft, nor Sony. I avidly believe that the system (up to a point) does not win the war. The games will decide the victor, and not one company has even made the slightest mention of games during the console's development. Without those, what do we play? Menu? Chat?
Why do we so falsely believe that the hardware is so important? Of course the VB died for its ugly red, and the 52-7800 for it's unecessary creation. But were those the epic battles? No. Think to the past. Few do, and for that reason, it shall repeat itself.
It's not whether the Wii, XBox360, or Playstation 3 will win. It's whether Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony will win, and you don't see a difference, you won't understand the next moves of these companies. On the other hand, if they don't get it, we have a problem...

A couple days ago I was thinking that they should start selling portables, like a better nomad. If a 12 year old can solder up a poratble genesis with a decent battery life and a good LCD, imagine what a company could mass produce. Or maybe even a portable dreamcast-compatible disk based system.teraflop122 wrote: I'd love to see Sega jump back into the console business, but I don't see it happening. I can tell you that right now the Gamecube is selling like hotcakes. Where I work we sell 3 or 4 new gamecubes a week, around 25% of an Xbox a week (aka one every 4 weeks) about 50% of an 360 a week (aka 1 every 2 weeks) and PS2 sales are even lower. The cube, maby be old and a less techy system but its shown that it isn't gonna die anytime soon atleast not where I live.
