today at a thrift store i saw a compleatly black atari 2600 with no wood grain what is it ?

no it wasent a six switch it had for and it wasent like somebody just took of the wood grain or anything like that

Thats a Darth Vader Atari 2600. Its pretty rare I would pick it up if I were you.

nah, it's not very rare... maybe a few bucks more than your average 4-switcher. A heavy sixer is better than these.

Also, if you want to make it portable, a lot of the Vader 2600s have the extra 555 chip up in the top right corner of the motherboard controlling the reset circuit - something extra that would need to be replaced or re-connected during the mobo miniaturization process. Stick with the 4-switch woodgrain model for easy portabilizing; they're the most common anyway so have no real collectible value to worry about destroying.
