When my pals have LAN parties, they play FEAR and AVP.
Basically any shooter will do.

If you have steam, a HL2 Demo (HL2 Demo is FREE) Lan Would be fun.
and a CS LAN would be good also.
Halo (its also free) Lan would also be fun.

STARCRAFT! ZOMG!

yeah. this game is probably 8 years old now, but it still rocks my socks, and because its so old, you cand find it for like $9.99 in bargain bins sometimes (or on the internet *cough). get the broodwar expansion for extra bloodshed. up to 8 players at a time.

I'll still go with AVP. The game's so fun because it's incredibly one-sided, but you keep changing sides! Hmm, that was a bad explination, but try it and you'll see!

I just bought it again (lost the cd) today. It is by far the best rts ever. I cant wait for SC2 to come out (PcGamer said its next issure will have a sequal to a "rts thats been out of the limelight for a while." I hope SC2 is it.

Just get the $15-20 five game value pack at good old wallmart. It has HL, opposing force, team fortress, counter strike and blue shift. both HL deathmatch and cs are great lan games. Also when you put steam on the computers you can download Day of Defeat for free. It is also most excellent.
Starcraft is also sweet. Other then that i pretty much only play fps.
