Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

hmmmm... USB on the DC? possible or not?

Post by Hso »

Hey guys :) it's been a while since i've been on here, so i've had quite a backlog to read... i was reading one topic about internet on the DC, and suddenly "wireless usb dongle" came into my head...
Is it at all possible to modify a DC to attach usable USB ports, and perhaps then be able to use wireless usb adapters for broadband internet access?

Sorry if this has been talked about before ~_~;

EDIT: Something like this.. would it be possible to connect it to the DC mobo? http://www.idotpc.com/TheStore/Peripher ... atus=green

It's been speculated that the link port is based on USB, but I don't know if this is true.

As for connecting to the internet, you have two options. One is you can connect your Dreamcast to your computer via phone modem. The other is to look for either the LAN or BBA adapter, the LAN will be lass (only supports 10Mb/s).

As for the first I say look here. Tells what you need to connect the Dreamcast to your computer and setup the server/client software.

The other option I menioned... unless you have $100 for ebay don't bother.

Well, that's not exactly what I was thinking of(and i've seen that link before :P). I was just wondering if it would be possible to access the internet wirelessly...

I seriously doubt you can do that. If you had the LAN or BBA adapter you could connect it to a wireless transmitter/receiver. I don't see anyother way that would work.
