Best RPG for me is Soul Blazer on snes
I never liked crono trigger don't know why
But soul blazer is a great game altho the graphics aren't as good as crono it's got a great storyline and it doesn't use a turnbased system.
I reccomend if you want to play a rpg this one is it
Oh and i liked shining force on game gear (think thats the game) not bad at all
Or the sms game phantasy star

You should give Phantasy Star II a try. I hear 4 is good as well, but haven't played it yet.daguuy wrote:unfortunatley my oldest console (genesis) doesn't have many RPGs so i never really got into the real classic ones. Legend of Dragoon's pretty classic though and i'd have to say it's my favorite so far

I'd have to disagree with Chronotriggerfan, Super Mario RPG is my favorite role-playing game. It introduced a whole new slew of characters to the Mario universe and gave a fresh new look to all the classic ones.
But it was also ingeniusly designed, taking a normally platforming genre and "converting" it to an RPG great. Pure excellence from the dudes at Squaresoft.
But recently, though, I've started to like Chronotrigger. (My dad got me the cartridge for Christmas! W00t!!) I still haven't beaten it, because of schoolwork, but definitely dig it already!

If all else fails, take it apart!
