Frist a Hello

Post by sigare »

Just want to start by saying hello. And thank you too all in the forums mainly the nintendo forums.

My wife bought me Ben's book for christmas and well my addiction was bad before but now is worse LOL. Still trying to build up the courage to build a portable but i have a wierd ? and figured if any place you here might apreicate it.

Today i found a thrift store (no other clue what to call it) and they had some nes games, mainly mario and mario/duckhunt carts but a few good ones. They also had a few snes and genesis games as well as a couple N64. One looked out of place so i asked the guy if he would open the case so i could see it.

Well i am kind of hoping i found a jem at least for here in the States, It is a 007 GoldenEye japaness import. Now i know there is no way i can play it on my N64 but it is in near perfect condition has the box, booklet as well as registration card i believe and it was only 4 dollars.

Well I guess no real point to the topic other then like i said hopeing some one here would apreicate this as my family and such look at me like i am crazy when i get going about this stuff.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and Hope in some way can be a part of these forums.

Peace,

I don't think that one has much value, because the US version exists in large quantities here. That was a very popular game, so I don't think a JP import of it is worth much more than the US version. Sorry to shatter your hopes.

Welcome!

I'm always glad to see an new and encouraged face around here.

Getting started on your first portable is scary, especially if you have limited knowledge of electronics.

May I recommend a NOAC (NES on a Chip) portable for your first? It's very simple and small.

If you want to do something exceedingly easy/safe, you could get one of those PSone/LCD combos and wire up a battery for it. The final product would be only borderline "portable," but it would do well to boost your confidence. From there you could make it all into one unit if you wanted, making it truly "portable" in the context used on this website.

sup n00b!?!

Nah, just kidding. Welcome to the forums! First off, I would like to tell you NOT to do a N64p as your first portable. Maybe your second or third. Those things are way too easy to fry. Try a PSOne or an NOACp.

And as Gamelver would probably tell you - don't use li-polys without a protection circuit

Anyways, you look like a promising portabalizer -- good luck!

Welcome to the forums! Building your first portable is scary. For a first portable make an nesp, an noacp, or a ps onep.
Meh, I don't post much.

Welcome! I'm in the middle of a PSoneP, and I can tell you they are easy to build, considering I have almost no experience with electronics. Good Luck!

If you're looking for an easy portable to do first, go either NOAC (NES on a chip) or SNES. Bother are really a connect the dots kind of portable.

As for Golden Eye, the cart just happens to be yellow, nothing special. If you came across the Gold cart of Ledgend of Zelda OoT, that is a little more rare and so valuble.

Which ever portable you choose to go after, do some search in that forum. We have a lot of information so you just have to look for it.

Well thanx for the warm response. I am considering doing my first portable from a noac, and bought my first one last week and it came in the mail yesterday but not sure i want to hack it up.

Oh and about the Jap. Golden eye the cart is standard grey, I honestly think someone Bought it and thought they would be able to use it here in the states and found out they were wrong it has little to no ware on it what so ever.

More then likely going to hang onto it though as I have always just wanted to say i own an import cart LOL.

Peace

Well if you're interested you can play that Japanese region game. Just go to gamesx.com and do the region mod on the N64 to play it.

I'd say check ebay and see what their going for. I personally only owned the gray so I never check to see what the resale price would be.
