Could you use one of those as your portable case (might need to make it thicker) and also use the screen. They seem to be reasonably priced!

It depends on the player whether or not you can use the screen. If you can plug in a external device to the unit, it's assured that you can. If not, it's a crap-shoot as to whether or not the screen uses composite.
