Whoa, that's intense. I thought the copyrights on the NES expired?

The copyrights of the systems internal electronics have expired I believe, but they re-copyrighted the games for Revolution useage, that's why the NeoPocket Fami and Game Theory Admrial are legal. Nintendo tried to take out a lawsuit on Gametech (makers of the NPF), but since the hardware copyrights were no longer valid, no legal breach was made and thus the NPF lives today!

He only got in trouble because he included direct rips of copyrighted games. The hardware itself isn't the problem because most of the patents have expired.
But, Nintendo could probably come up with some reason anyway.

That's what it sounded like to me. He had actual Nintendo games built into his product  . That's a big no-no

Well, if Nintendo is going to make arguments about the innards of a NOAC as well, why doesn't someone just patent the NOAC? They'd probably make a fortune in lawsuits and sales, plus the big N couldn't mess with you! And if the guy was arrested and all faimiclones seized and factories shut down, how can sites like www.powerplayerusa.com and www.mallitems.com still be selling these?

PS- So I take it then it's illegal to possess one of these, too? Because I just got mine in the mail today  Should I ditch the evidence?

I HOPE GANON IS READING THIS!!!

If you purchased it and are not a wholesaler who continually takes in new stocks, you legallly own it and there isn't a thing the law can do about it  ...

I doubt you'll be seeing FBI agents knocking down your doors for all your famiclones... If they do, I'm grabbing my BB-gun and defending my clones. I paid for them, and I want 'em!

But wow, that really surprises me that nintendo would do that. It's not very user-friendly of them. Why would they even care about a single seller, when the companys are out there making tons of them and selling them on the internet? Are we sure this is real and not fake?

You can't walk away from nintendo's bullets. You can run, but not walk. Too slow. Haven't you played mario?

This wasn't really an issue up until the Rev was announced... now they want to crack down because they think people will buy famiclones to play their old games instead of the Revolution. And that guy wasn't just a seller, he was the creator of the Super Joy III. I doubt wholesalers will have these things around for much longer if the beast has been cut off at the head!
