What's the best screen for portable making?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

What's the best screen for portable making?

Post by bucsboy »

I have seen a few screens out there, like the interact 5.4" gamecube screen or the Psone screen. I really dont want to spend more than $30.00 on a screen, so which would you recomend, and where do you recomend to get it?
I would rather get it online, but don't say ebay. I'm lookin' on there but is there an alternative? I don't mind if it is used, and if there are any coupon codes for the site, could you tell me?

Thanks,

Here are the most often used screens for portable making:

- Hipgear PS2 screenpad (2.5" screen)
- SONY Psone screen (5" screen) MUST BE SONY

With these screens you can not only use the informatino in the stickiesm but also us the Search function to find out almost anything you need.

Also, don't rule out pocket TV's (casio is the kind that ben has some tutorials on)

As for where you can buy them, you can get a PS1 screen off of www.ebgames.com for $30-35 US or something lik that.
Hey, sup?

Ebay UK seems to be flooded with broken DVD players with LCD screens. 50% of the time it's the DVD portion that has failed. Seen these go for around £10-20.

The 2.5 TFT screen I'm using for my Genesis portable was designed for car headrests and was given to me as payment for fitting blue LEDs in the switches of a Ford Escort (owner was a Max Power/Rice Boy!). Cost me £10 worth of LEDs and resistors... OH YES! :D
I've often found if people spend less time worrying about what someone the other side of the world has posted on an internet forum and more time getting laid, they'll be a lot less tense.

Does anyone know where I can find a good LCD screen about 3-4 inches in Australia? Cause eBay AU is much smaller than the other ebays, and EBgames doesn't ship to Australia. Thanks.
