I was wondering about these three ports, can you move them or remove them? I stripped the expansion pack, turns out to be a lot smaller than its casing. I was wondering If I could move the expansion pack port to somewhere else. I was also wondering if I could remove the extension port on the underside of the motherboard, or if at best move it. I was also wondering If I could move the cartridge port to.
Thanks all,
Totally N00BISH!!!

1. To move the cartridge slot, you'll have to take off the addon-port below it. Just rip off the metal casing, pull the plastic shroud off with pliers, and desolder each little contact. Then you can solder wires between the cart slot and the mother board. Don't try this if you're not a goold solderer.
2. Just leave the expansion pak slot right where it is. If you have some extreme SMT soldering skills, it may be possible. If you don't know what SMT is then you should definitely not do it.

Laying it flat
What I really want to do is lay it flat, that's the main thing, because right now it works with the expansion pack stripped, and the n64 out of its casing. Also, does that mean you can get rid of the external port?marshallh wrote:1. To move the cartridge slot, you'll have to take off the addon-port below it. About that...
I have never soldered before in my life, so thats a toughy.... errrr...daguuy wrote:you could relocate the expansion pack but you'd need to be as good at soldering as superman or batman or spiderman. you get the point.. and to remove the metal things marshallh said to desolder, you can just bend them off until they break
aaaa... ummmmm. yeah
Anyway, so you just break off the extension port, gotcha, and what is SMT, I am dying to move the expnasion pack. AND BTW, can you relocate the memory card port, cause that is a MUST HAVE!!!
Thanks,

ive been soldering for 5 years and i couldnt move the expansion pack on my first try... i have yet to try again.
my avatar is the RAM chip from the pack...
and yeah, if you strip the pack (not the jumper, but the actual pack with the ram chip in it), then make sure you heatsink it.
