i did not find any sutable thread about atari 1040st here for my question.
well this sone is about Compact flash in the atari 1040st
i read the atari laptop project and well it seems possible owerall but no pinnout detale or such.
my atari 1040st got a connector in the back for an harddisk.
it looks like a paralell port ( printerport ).
and is it possible to put an compactflash card on that port? ( well i got it saved up on the avict and desided to do something with it after reading on the site about the atari 800 mod ).
it is werry dear to me that's why i saved it but it wuld be nice to give it a new nice case and enlight it abit.

It is indded like a printer port, a more simple solution would be to look for an IDE to (null?) serial cable connecter or and old external hard drive enclosure. I tought about doing something similar to this with mine but never got around to it

If the port looks like a Parellel port then it's really an old SCSI connetion. I wouldn't suggest trying to even use a Parellel cable as it uses different voltage then SCSI.
You can likely find SCSI cable on ebay and vintage computer hardware sites (if you can find any). And you should be able to find a hard drive to work with the Atari 1040 ST.
Hope this helps.

Bringin this back up i have a better solution, rather than using the hard drive port you can simply use the second floppy disk drive port, which has an ide cable coming out of it (if you have the same one as me) so you can then just plug the compact flash adapter into that

IDE stands for Integrated Drive Electronics, which was a new technology when they still used ISA hard drive controllers. THen they moved the circuitry to the hard drive PCB.
They used a standard type of cable, but the floppy interface was made before that and hasn't changed (apart from some little things such as the Drive Change pin etc)
