SOAC? Or what?

Post by visuallyImpaired »

Well! Not entirely off topic, but not on any specific topic, so here it goes:

I believe I have found a SOAC. An FLA I just invented (Something On A Chip), though I hope that can be updated.

Here's the thing right:
*Has 72 games built into it, which I believe is as many as Ben's NOAC has
*Has a stupid name, just like Ben's (NOAC, that is. This one was called the "Mega Game Gun")
*Has a shell that's, by some incredible coincidence, almost identical to an N64

Now, it was only $AU15, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but it has a very hopeful looking cartridge slot. Here's some photos:

As you can see, the circuit has almost nothing on it. The built in games are quite good, but I'd rather play NES games. Which brings me nicely to the point: can anyone identify this? Or at least recognise the cartridge slot? The slot is about 81x9mm to fit a 79mm cart connector. Any information is helpful.[/img]

Looks like a Super Joy III. If it has a cart slot talk to Gannon, him might have some left.

They're all really primitive, and clearly just thrown together in a matter of mintues. Like "Littel Witch", where you're a witch who flies up and down and shoots things, and "UFO race", where you're a UFO that can just go left or right, or "Bicycle race", where you're a bicycle that goes left and right, or "Car race", you get the idea. I'm buying a NES connector off Ebay, just to test it. And and and and, I've found an absolutely tiny screen so I could possibly make the world's smallest portable. Oooh, this is exciting. Almost as good as Littel Witch

I count 60 pins on your cartridge connector so it's abviously a Famicom on a chip. Get a convertor, and you will be able to play NES game. I already saw this one too...

I fried it.

And bought another one, which doesn't work. Damnantion.

Anyway, what kind of idiot released this thing in Australia? Who on earth would see a bastardized N64 controller and this "Oh, that must be a pirate FamiCon emulator"?

Go-Lo (read: generic bargain store). The packaging reads "Mega Gun", but the docket says "Mega Joy", and apart from that, there's no info on the package. Not particularly hard to find by the look of it, just look in all the reject-shop style stores.

BTW, good to see another Australian doing this stuff.

Also, can someone tell me if this is what I need to make it play NES games? Ebay Auction
