Hi guys,
after opening my GCN i seem to have somehow broken the dvd drive, when i insert a disk and close the lid it starts to spin up but then doesnt recognise the disk, i have checked all of the connections and they seem to be ok.
Do any of you guys know what the problem might be, its just i dont really feel like buying a whole new GCN.
Thanks

Busted GCN
No matter how busy I am, I will always find the time to stop and tell you how busy I am.
Re: Busted GCN
Are you getting a Disk Read Error? If you are there is a pot on the circuit board on the drive that you can turn to adjust the power of the laser beam.PapaLazarous wrote:Hi guys,

i do sometimes get a disk read error but other times it doenst even acknowledge a disk is present at all.
do you have a pic of where this pot is on the board?
thanks
EDIT
I found the pot myself and adjusted it by turning it 90o clockwise with the gold lead on the right hand side, in case anyone else is wondering the pot is the black thing with the silver head that looks like a tiny phillips head screw.
anyway my gamecube is now perfectly functional. THANK YOU, I OWE YOU MANY MORE THAN ONE

Uh... thats kind of a lot that could burn out the laser.... use a multimeter and change the dial to 1000 ohms and then put the pot at about 200 ohms or just anywhere between 180 and 200.
