i was stripping some large style PS1's last night and i found one with a really small motherboard. it's model number SCPH-9001. the length is about an inch longer than a mini psone but the width is about an inch shorter. i don't know if this info is useful to anyone but i figured i'd post my findings anyway. wierd.. but cool find.. isnt that model number the same as the 'big one'.. could u get some actual measurements for them all while u got them open?

It's 7 1/2" long and 3 3/4 " wide. And the date on it says july 1999, so it must be one of the last "big" PS1's they made before switching to the mini.

I have 3 9001 ps1s, no surprise, the later models have smaller boards.

Sony made the logic board smaller on this model in order to make it difficult to MOD......
If anyone has any useful information on this topic (MODDING/HACKING PS1)...post it .....
I'm always up for learning how to turn a PS1 into something else.....

No point modding an original PS1 board, people mod the PSone board as it is easier and only needs one battery voltage.
