Our nation is commonly refered to as the United States of America, and America. Both are correct, and both are used in political environments. They should feel lucky that their neighbor happens to be the most powerful nation on the planet- ok, I'll stop here before I piss someone off.

Anyway, Jack Whats-his-face will last only as long as the people he cators to. I think it's safe to say that our generation is comprised mainly of gamers: As the populace is completely replaced by voters, senators, and governers who are all avid gamers, people like Jack will simply fade away.

people like mister jack t. are just replaying history. all new art and entertainment forms are condemned and suppressed by older generations. rock and roll, 'modern' classical music, cubism, surrealist art- hey, right back to the beginning of the renaissance!
just be glad that we are supporting this new art form- give it 50 or a hundred years, and old mr thompson will have disappeared from the history books.

The lack of people voting is a bad thing, most vote because they're to lazy to, dont think they know enough to vote or dont like any of the parties out there.

I think its was something like 55% of people who could vote, did in the last general election, thats not much. By the time the next one rolls around ill be able to vote, and i will.

exactly, once ignorant people get an idea in their heads it takesso long to change their views.

Just look at the telephone transmitter scenario, all over england people are opposing phone companies putting up mobile (cell) phone masts and getting them to remove them because of the fear that their "un-born babies" and small children are being harmed by the waves emittied from these, yet most people like this use a mobile phone regularly and all own microwaves which are far more powerful than and phone mast. Time and time again test and studies have shown that mobile phones and mast cause no damage to anyone, but no they dont listen to the scientists, they obviosly got it wrong.

one thing that does amuse me tough is one pregnant women who was heading an anti-phone mast group preaching her fear message to the TV cameras going on and on about the safety of her un-born child while casually holding a ciggarette in the other hand....

No it's not that they're ignorant, they want a scape-goat. Something that the parents can blame for they're kids being bad and troublesome, besides themselves.

Really if you think of it how can holding a PS2/Xbox controller give you the experiance to firing a gun? I've shot a .22 rifle, it's nothing like playing GTA. If a kid really wants to be a cop killer he better go to shotting ranges, not to his Playstation.

But logic isn't something that these mobs have in great quanitly. They think much like people in the middel ages did; superstision. You do away with the violant movies, games and books the world will be peaceful. Too bad that isn't what history has proven.

Really as we've proved time and time again: Playing video games, esspeally violant games lets us work off that agression. Really no fighting in schools and nothing in our society besides working out as an accepted way of working off agression your kind of screwed. Oh and going nuts and shooting your school is bad, maybe having a way for kids that get in fights work off their anger on a puching bag would be better.

But again Jack wouldn't think of this. He thinks you remove the violent content all will be like a Utopia. Too bad the Puritans proved that wrong.

Yeah, in Blyth, Northumberland there's a big protest on at the moment against a mobile mast. They were on Tyne Tees News and I nearly fell off my chair when I saw one of the protesters in the background talking on a mobile!

Orange normally disguise their masts as trees, lamp posts etc and nobody complains!

Religion, brilliant idea until some idiots just believing that little bit too much, bam! you got fundamentalist and puritains. And look what those fun guys did...

This is not an attack on religion, but against zealots. You can believe in something strongly which is good, but the moment it starts affecting you clear thinking and logic is when you've gone too far.

Same thing with people who campaign against violent tv shows, games, etc
all of them are trying to impose their views on everyone else, have an opinion, try and sway other people to your views is ok now and again but doing it all the time on people who clearly dont want to change is bad i think.
(again just an opinion)

Thats the kinda thing im talking about, as soon as people know they have a mast they start blaming all their illnesses on it, some of them are all in their heads. Its a sorta negative placebo
