In-Game Music
Update 3/13/07
Because the game is for the N64 and not the PC any longer, the music will have to be different.
1. The music will be in MOD or S3M format, to played by the modplayer. This is basically a format that you can easily find programs to edit, it's compact (notation data and samples) and it's always editable.
A good tracker I use is ModPlug Tracker.
2. Module music file size has to be pretty small. I'm aiming for 8MB as the final size of the game, so the music can be roughly 1/3 of that, or 2.5MB. Keep the mods under 500KB.
3. If you don't have the know-how to make a mod music file, use your favorite tool to come up with the general design and I'll see what I can do.
Most likely, the music will come late in the development. The most important part is ensuring the rest of the game works.

Infinite loopage
I think he means that the sound is repeatable, without hearing the "seam" (so that it abrubtly stops, and plays again from the beginning but the tones are different). You can fix this with a very brief fade-out (at the end) and fade-in (at the beginning), but it's probably better that you match the end to the beginning so that it is really seamless.

Here's my first demo, not a full song, but just a basic test:
http://astronicinc.com/gtp.mp3
It's pretty random in terms of samples, but it's catchy.

I must say, Triton's tritechno4 would be perfect for a "paused" menu. But that's just my opinion.
Here's mine (that's a piece of crap and made in less than 30 minutes. I was experimenting with NoteWorthy Composer.
)

It loops too!
If you decide to use this (yeah right) I see it being used in some crazy store or something.
(EDIT: Feel free to do anything to this that you want, I don't care about it.)

Hey Guys, Ive actually been a "guest" on these forums since the begining, and finally decided to register to offer my services. I could probably help out tremendously with the car radio music, since I happen to actually be a DJ for the Local Radio station. I have a lot of music editing software at my disposal and quite a bit of free time. Anyway PM me if interested

SWEET. Welcome to the forums (well, sorta...). Your help should be greatly appreciated.Marionut#1 wrote:Hey Guys, Ive actually been a "guest" on these forums since the begining, and finally decided to register to offer my services.
